Not Sleeping... Am I alone?

I am just curious if anyone is goon through the same thing. My daughter will be 5 months next week. She has yet to sleep through the night. She wakes up 2 to 3 times a night. For the last week it has gotten worse and she is now up for at least an hour each time. Many people keep telling me that their kids slept at three months. I am starting to feel like the odd one out.I really just want to know that I am not alone. Any advice if you went through the same thing would be appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Not Sleeping... Am I alone?

  • Girl, I think NONE of us here are getting the amazing sleep your (lying) friends claim they are getting/got at this stage. I got ONE night where my 4 1/2 mo old slept from 8pm til 6am, but that was surely a fluke of nature. Every night other than that one, she gets up a minimum of 3x a night for about an hour or more each time- that I don't get to go to sleep when she does. I still have cloth diapers to wash, dishes to do, cleaning the kitchen, or maybe just need to check my email or do my Bible study homework.

For real, this is what we're all going through.

  • Ditto Tiffany. Some babies are great sleepers, many are not. :(

  • DS is still waking up at least 2x, sometimes 3 depending on how early he went to bed. And he's waking up for the day between 5:30-6:30. No sleep here. Like Tiffany, I still have stuff to do when he goes to bed.

  • Like Tiffany said, your friends are lying!  DS slept ONCE from 9p-5a and never again.  His routine at this moment is: bed at 730p up at 11p eat and back to bed, up at 4a eat and back to bed, up at 8a for the day.  Two weeks ago (for a full week), he would go to bed at 7p get up at 11p eat and back to bed, up at 2a eat and back to bed, up at 330a fussing, up at 430 fussing, up at 530 fussing 6, and up for the day at like 630 because I couldn't deal with it anymore....

Do you have family near that might be able to take the baby for a night so you can get some good sleep?  It is so helpful.  Good luck.

Caroline was doing a 9-10 hour stretch every night...until 2 weeks ago. Sleep regression is hitting us hard too. It sucks, but it does pass! Hang in there, mama!!

Thank you ladies. It helps to know that I am not alone. (hope that doesn't sound horrible).

  • DD's only 4 months, but I don't see sleeping more than a few hours in her near future lol.  It's a rare event that requires perfect conditions.

  • No sleep  here either! K-man managed to sleep through the night one time and it happened to be the ONE night my mom was staying with him and offered to take him for the night! Go figure! But hey, at least we both got to sleep all night that night, right?!

I am hoping it gets better soon, but for now I will just continue to enjoy my night time cuddles and keep telling myself it will get better and soon I will miss it I'm sure.

  • Yeah, not sleeping here either. I was just up with DS for an hour - took three tries to get him back down after his bottle. Now I'm pumping...yawn....

  • Umm yes about every post of mine has been sleep related issues. We switched formula which has helped, but still only getting 1-3 hours of sleep a night! It has been a rough 3 weeks.

  • Another sleepless household here! From about 6 weeks, DS was sleeping around 11pm-6am every night. I thought we were lucky to have a great sleeper- that is until 2 weeks ago. Now we're up at least every 3 hours and DS is nursing like crazy around the clock!

  • Same here. DD wakes twice at night sometimes 3 times. She did sleep through the night once but that never happened again! We started rice cereal this week and I thought that would help but nope! Guess I'll just have to wait it out. I'm trying to work on getting her to sleep out of my bed for now.
