Success after IF

Need quick gift idea for three year old

Our friends are hosting a party for their three year old, and while I suspect they don't really expect presents (they're not the type, and I don't remember the last toddler/baby party I went to with presents) the invitation does not address it.  We'd hate to show up empty handed.  We're not going to hike out to a toys-r-us or anything, but is there something fun and silly we can bring him?  I have NO clue.  I am half inclined to just bring his parents beer :)

ETA: we're heading over in a couple of hours, so we really do need something we can just grab at a local toy store or something.

  • A book or two or three?  With a return receipt? :)

    Have fun! :)

  • I second books or summer toys.  Both are easy to find and fun.  One of E's favorite b-day gifts was a wiffle ball and bat from the grocery store.

    Ditto!!!

And... 3 is about the age they start to understand the concept of birthday parties involving gifts.

I wouldn't go empty handed at this age.

Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.

Hopefully you're already on your way, but I like this idea better! :)

Thanks all! The party was pirate themed, so I ended up dashing out to a crazy party store here in Seattle (Archie McPhee's) and got him some pirate bandaids (and ninja ones too in case he moves on), a couple of potato guns, stickers, etc. Hopefully it goes over OK :)  We didn't even get to presents so he'll get to open it with his parents.
