Babies on the Brain

Salesclerk FAIL

So armed with the knowledge you guys lent me, I just drove to Diaper Lab to go make my first purchase for the baby. I figured that the first purchase should be practical, but also hoped to get something clothing-related that would convey the tiny size of a newborn. But more than that, I had gone through their gently used section on the website and saw a few non-newborn diapers that have been recommended highly.

I was an easier sale than a red mustang to to a bald 50 something with erectile dysfunction.

I went directly to the gently used section and found the three I had seen online, so I put them in a little pile next to me. But then the saleslady approached.

Oh, she knew what she was talking about, but she sucked the fun out of the whole darn thing. She didn't want me to buy anything until I attended the workshop, not even prefolds. She didn't think I should buy any non-newborn diapers even if they were gently used. No covers, no wet bags, 'wait and get something that matches your diaper bag'. Ugh.

Sadness.

Re: Salesclerk FAIL

  • Wait, she told you to only buy NB dipes and that your wetbags have to match your diaper bag?!

    WTF, lady.

Get thee to Green Mountain Diapers and order some prefolds, LOL.

  • So did you buy anything, or tell her to shove it and learn how to do her job as a SALESperson a little better?

  • Does her boss know that she's telling customers NOT to buy stuff?  That's just poor business sense.

  • Umm, wtf? She just screwed them out of a sale. I would totally email the company.

If you find anything gently used that fits your near-future needs, why wouldn't you buy it if you had the space to put it? Plus, CDs retain a lot of value, so if it didn't work out you could totally resell it.

And whay would you need wet bags to match your diaper bag? My wallet doesn't match my purse, my curtains don't match the carpet. What gives?

I'm sorry she ruined your Saturday shopping. :(
