Babies on the Brain

The fires in AZ are scary.

Monument Fire in S. Arizona is about to hit one of the cities where my mom works.

It's getting pretty concerning bc the fire is within a few miles of Ft. Huachuca, where most of the communication equipment is for military satellites. There are a lot of military families that might be looking at an evac order +  3000 homes are in danger in Sierra Vista.

Fingers crossed that S. AZ gets some much-needed rain soon.

  • Yes, they are. :(

And, it is super hot and windy here right now. No rain in sight. It's a very bad situation.

I was thinking of you the other day - are you near the fire zone? It's so hot and dry up here, I can't imagine what it's like down there. I used to live in Phoenix in my 20's, I loved the fall/winter/spring, but summer was too much.

Praying for all in danger, it's so terrible.

  • Phoenix isn't really near the fires. The Wallows Fire is the really big one-- half a million + acres--is up in the four corners region (north east corner--due east of Flagstaff) and then the Monument Fire is down in the south eastern part of the state/on the border w/ Mexico.

  • Yes they are. I can't believe how out of control they are right now, it is absolutely nuts. Of course there is no immediate danger/evacuation/concern of them where I am, but it is horrible how they are destroying our beautiful state. The worst part is that I believe both the Wallow fire and the one down near Sierra Vista are both started by humans.

Oh, I know. I should have clarified - I was just saying I remember how hot and dry it was then, and that wasn't a terrible year for fires. So I can't imagine how hot and dry it must be now, plus with the air quality because of the fires.

  • There was a fire on post yesterday too.  It burned about 2400 acres but is totally contained now.
