OK, I think I have the concept of the father's day project ![]()
You mentioned in the crafts post about using clear acrylic, so I'm guessing the project is best done on a framed canvas using acrylic paints right? Put the contact paper on the canvas and then go gently around the edge with the acrylic and let them go to to town. I'm guessing you go from the contact paper out toward the canvas like when you do wall paint. Then when I peel up the contact paper, the paint will break cleanly at the edge.
Am I missing anything? I'm more of a fabric craft person.
ETA: FRICK. I just realized today is Saturday and DH is home today. Hmm.

Yes. Let the clear acrylic dry before going to town. I personally haven't done it on the canvas, but I assume since it works on my walls, it would be the same on the canvas.
And, I would use the framed ones. Michael's usually has a sale on the thinner framed ones. I don't ever use that canvas board. Just snobby like that. I can't help it.
I have art books that just use contact paper to mask, but the contact paper I can find isn't that sticky to not bleed.
Maybe you could let him sleep in tomorrow and do it in the morning. Acrylic dries relatively fast...
If you do it, let me know how it works.
ETA: I don't think Joyco used the clear acrylic over her contact paper and hers looks good.
