weaning is hard!

Re: weaning is hard!

  • It is.

Its ok to feel whatever you're feeling.

I won't lie.  I wanted to wean because DS self weened at 8 months and I went to EPing but I still wanted to know I was providing for him.  He didn't seem to mind the switch but occassionally still tries to go for the boob.  I think it had more of an emotional toll on me.

  • Sorry. :(  I'll be going down that road in a couple of months and I'm already worried about it.

  • Agreed.  And it's killing me that I came within two weeks of making it to a year!  This whole thing is so emotional!
  • with DD I got mastitis, with DS - no mastitis but definite clogged ducts, I'm still pumping once a day and I just want to stop! I want to be done by the 4th of July (he'll be 13 mo old by then) so that I have 2 whole month to adjust to the "new me" and then go on a shopping spree for Labor Day sales!

I wore cabbage leaves w/ DD but it was Fall/Winter, I can't do that now, as I'm not exactly wearing sweaters to work. I swear weaning is harder than nursing in the beginning!

goal 1 - stop pumping next week

    goal 2 - stop the nurse-to-bed routine (1-2 weeks)

goal 3 - by 4th of July, stop the morning nursing - and BE DONE!

    ugh, thanks for the support!

  • I hear you.  I'm trying to make it the one more month but we seem to be going in reverse by increasing our nighttime feedings and decreasing day time feedings.  Waking up 4x a night at this stage is not fun...
