Austin Babies

I'd forgotten how farking loud newborns can be when they sleep.

Ali slept in the PNP for the first 3 months. I wanted to do the same with Sam, but heaven help me the child is loud when he sleeps. All kinds of grunts and swallows and coos and crap. I don't know how DH sleeps through it (the PNP is on his side of the bed), but I can't. Most nights I give up and move to the couch. Kind of defeats the whole "co-sleeping" arrangement and leaves me wondering if he'd just be better off in his crib.

*yawn*

Dear Bump: You suck.

  • We tried to co-sleep and couldn't cut it for that very reason.  We put her in the rock n play right outside our door with it open and then eventually moved her into her own room at around 3 months.  She still sounds like an old man when she sleeps.

  • Olivia was a little older than Sam, but that's why she got moved. Between her snoring and my husband's snoring, I couldn't sleep! I'm sure my second child will get moved much sooner Wink
  • I thought about having the pnp in our room but V was SO loud over the monitor that I couldn't imagine her sleeping in the same room.  After that first night, we decided she was in her crib for the duration.

  • Dude he IS loud. I noticed when I was over the other day but forgot to mention it. Would it help if you put a white noise machine on your side of the bed? Rssn would still hear him, but it might help diffuse his noisiness for you.

Ditto the white noise machine.  We had one when we had Ruby in our room, and it helped tremendously.

lol...I might try that. As it is now, we have the ceiling fan on, a standing fan on, and both vent fans in the bathroom.

  • No joke! We've hopped out of bed a few times thinking he's choking or something only to turn the lights on and find him peacefully sleeping.

  • Oh, and she's also a crazy loud eater.  You'd think she was devouring a steak after a month long fast with all of the groaning and moaning that goes on.  What can I say?  The girl loves her milk.
  • Jack lasted all of 3 nights in the PnP next to my side of the bed. I checked on him every time he made a noise. After that he started sleeping in his bouncer (due to reflux) and we ended up putting him in our bathroom Embarrassed so he'd be close but not so far. That backfired and he quickly went to his room when his noises echoed in the bathroom. We even had to adjust the monitor so that it didn't pick up every little noise. Nobody told me they were that noisy. It's cute in hindsight but not so much when you are in the moment.
