Okay, so I've been itching to start buying girly clothes ever since I found out we're having a girl. I don't know what to buy, though! There are so many choices compared to boys (pants and a shirt!) So, my first problem is she will be born in November and I had a summer baby who lived in onesies the first time so what will a baby girl wear in November/December/January? Should I plan for dresses and leggings? Should everything be long sleeved or should I have short sleeve things since she'll likely be indoors most of the time? Also, what about the babylegs things? Are those good for winter?
What else do I need to know? If I see sales now for summer things, what should I get for next summer? Of course dresses are cute but what is practical for daycare? Should I plan to do rompers and shirts/shorts for summer or what?
Okay, more questions to come but if anyone wants to point me in the right direction to get started I appreciate it! I don't want to buy a lot of things only to find out they are not practical but it would be nice to start stocking up, if possible.
Re: Help me shop for a baby girl! :)
We didn't do much with dresses until DD was about 1 and walking only b/c it was a pain before that. I loved the one piece rompers and outfits or leggings with tops/tunics. I had so many infant dresses that never got worn. We especially skipped them during the crawling phase. Then, when DD started getting up and moving, I still did leggings a good bit to try and avoid skinned knees at daycare when they went outside.
Shopping for girls is dangerous. It is so hard to resist all the cute stuff! Have fun!!
I did dresses(comfy ones) and leggings for Aerin when she was a baby. When she was about 8 months, I introduced tights. We did lots of skirts, tops and tights.
We also did tops and leggings.
Also--Target has great deals on cute little girls' dresses which are great for daycare. I used to stock up when they went on sale and get the dresses for about $2-4/piece.
you must buy these:
Denim Leggings
I had them in 0-3, 3-6, and 6-9. love them! so comfy but so cute! paired them with a onesie (short or long) and cardigan if it was cooler.

I did a lot of one piece stuff, it just seemed so much more comfortable to me. Some of my fav boutique brands are Baby Nay, Kissy Kissy (SO soft!), Le Top, and Zutano. And I also stocked up on deals from Target, Gymboree and sometimes Janie and Jack. When Emma was a baby I got tons of stuff from Gap and Old Navy but I think their baby stuff is pretty hit or miss anymore.
Samantha is a spring baby but William was born on Fall. I love footed onesies on babies so he pretty much wear those. They have a lot of cute ruffly footed onesies for newborns.
As Samantha got older, we transitioned her to tunic and leggings.
Happy shopping!
I know! All I can look at is dresses, but it's good to know that maybe that's not always practical.
Ruffles, however, I feel are always appropriate!

I hit as many of the consignment sales I could this past March/April. I think the fall ones start in August. I stocked up on everyday play clothes for really cheap. That way I could spend more on the adorable stuff at Gymboree, Gap and Janie and Jack! I have those demin leggins too, she wore them with cute tops and dresses when it was still cool outside.
