Babies on the Brain

Tuesday Question

So I'm not charting this month because my schedule has been crazy and I didn't figure that the temps would be very accurate.

I have been using OPK's (the internet cheapies).  Is it possible to ovulate without getting a positive?  I started doing the OPK's on day 10 and I'm on day 19, so I would have typically ovulated in my cycle but obviously it's possible it's still coming.

So there, my totally flameful newbie-like question of the day. lol.

Re: Tuesday Question

  • Hmm I don't know, I know it's possible to get a positive OPK with out O'ing.  In my case of PCOS OPK's were always positive, so they didn't work for me.  I'm sorry, I don't know the answer to your question though.

  • Yeah, opks are just a snapshot of whats going on right that second- they don't predict the whole day. Technically you could take one first thing in the morning and get a negative, then O shortly after & by the time you test the next day your levels could be low enough already to show negative again.

When I was charting I had a couple months where I had clearly ovulated based on temp, but never got a +opk.

  • This was my practice month to try them out. I peed on 3 a day, and got a clear positive at lunch time one day but it was negative by dinner. I don't know if that helps.
