What is your favorite (reading) guilty pleasure?

Any summer reads that you'd hide in a classy looking book jacket just so that hawt, hunky EPA scientist the next beach towel over won't see?  Any long time favorites that you go back to, but don't want to admit?

  • Well, this isn't really juicy but I could read Stephen King books over and over.

  • I usually check out inspirational novels from the library, but I like to throw in a raunchy pirate romance novel when no one is looking...Embarrassed

Pillars of the Earth. Seriously. It's like literature and smut had a love-child-book.

  • I used to LOVE the Heralds of Valdamar series by Mercedes Lackey - I tried to read them again - yeah, not so much...  Ah well.

  • Trashy romance by Johanna Lindsey or anything by L.M. Montgomery (who wrote Anne of Green Gables, etc...) - not together though cause that would be weird.

I used to like Stephen King, and even more - that other guy who writes the same sort of genre, but a tad tamer... Forget his name, though

Lotte - have you read the LM Montgomery book, The Blue Castle?  I have read the cover litteraly off that one!

  • I always throw in a romance novel that looks hot just from the cover whenever I go to the library along with the normal Harlen Coben or whatever.  Then as I read it at my desk at work I wonder if I am blushing when I get to the good parts.

  • I have read Pride and Prejudice approximately 3214631 times.

I do love me a good YA novel, though.

  • ps- this is one really good advantage to e-readers, no one can see your book cover. Read all the smut you want!

It wasn't until the revelation that you didn't need light to read an e-reader.... that made me want one!  That said, I love using the paperback swap website, and until they have something like that, I probably wouldn't have a ton to read on there!  Except for library books, of course.

Yep, you post your list of lendable books, other people post theirs, and then you lend and borrow. On the nook, it is all done through email and you have two weeks to read the book before it goes back to the owner.

Same with Kindle.  My bf has lent me 4 books already.  :)

Me too!  Literally as well!  It's one of my favorite books of all time along with her Emily series.  So funny - it's obscure enough that I rarely meet anyone who's heard of it.

Yes  Have you ever read Christy?  It was another book I read around the same time that I got a bit obsessed with.  Somewhat similar in certain ways.

I have.  I should reread it, it's been years.  It's definitely a good book.  Thanks for the reminder!

Oh, my friend, it wasn't a movie!  It was a short running TV series!  I was so excited when it came on.  Couldn't compare to the book, but I enjoyed it for awhile.

and Yes to both you and Lotte!!

Ooooo - Fuller needs to fly up here, we can rent a really snazzy hotel room and watch the series over a weekend!!!!  (file under things that would be utterly fabulous, even if they can't happen!)
