Working a hour away..???

Hey! I'm 28 weeks pregnant and I'm really thinking about breastfeeding. My only concern is that I work an hour away from home. I was wondering if any one on here that is breastfeeding and working such a long way away. I would like to know how it is working for them and information on how to keep breast milk fresh till I get home? Any other information would be helpful too!

My drive is only 30-35 minutes, but I've never had trouble keeping milk cold. I usually put my ice pack and cooler in the freezer when I get to work, and take it out for my first pumping session. Then, I leave it in the fridge or just in my bag the rest of the day, depending on how long until I'm off work. My ice pack will keep cold for 12+ hours, and I've never had trouble with milk getting warm.

I work 50 minutes away and EBF; it works out fine! I pump every 3 hours at work, 10 minutes a pop with my last pump session being at 3 pm. I feed him right when I get home. I keep my milk in the cooler bag that came with my Medela PISA-it's fine in the car because it has a ice pack in it. I keep the bag in the fridge at work all day, too. Good luck!

my commute is 1.5hrs each way.

the milk is in a cooler bag with an ice pack. it also is in the office fridge all day. it's always cold when i get home, even if i am delayed/have traffic.

Thank you all so much for all the information. As long as i dont use a very large cooler bag i should be able to fit it in my fridge at work. Our frig at work is about the size of one of those dorm room refrigs so theres not much space especially in the freezer. I heard that I can also buy one of those coolers that plugs into my car. What type of pump do you recommend for pumping at work or on the go?

I have the Medela PISA (Pump In Style Advanced) and it's been great! it comes with a smaller cooler (with an ice pack) that holds 4 bottles, and that's been enough for what I pmp at work. I'm out of the house from 6:30 until 5 every day, and my milk always stays cold.

I love my freestyle. If have started pumping on the way to work, after I drop off at daycare. I also have pumped on the way home if I know DD wont be ready to eat right when I get her. I dont pump the whole time. And it is really easy to keep milk cool in little big with frozen thing.
