TIRED, when did you LO get on a schedule?

Seriously...I'm off work so it's not THAT bad but my LO keeps changing his mind when he wants to sleep.  I can't really plan anything at all b/c sometimes he naps 45 mins and right now he's been sleeping for 3 hrs!  Last week he would only get up once or twice a night, now it's 3-4...  and b/c of my own need to exercise & get back in shape, I've been working out twice a day, one of those just a vigorous walk with him for an hour or so, but I'm HUNGRY ALL the time and the scale won't budge. (I'm also breastfeeding)   arrrgghhh  sorry, this is really just a vent but if anyone can empathize or offer some info from your "older" babies, please share!  Thanks :)

  • How old is your LO? DS isn't sleeping through the night, isn't even close but his daytime is mildly predictable. I don't know how long his naps will last but I know roughly when he'll be hungry each day and a few of his sleepy time windows. He's 10 weeks.

  • We started getting onto a schedule right around 3 months. And then my MIL ruined it. But only to the point that he seems to be waking up more often, not the end of the world since he sleeps in bed with me after his first wake up.

I would honestly hold off on vigorously exercising until he is on a schedule, it will make it easier on both of you. My workouts did nothing before he was on a schedule. Once we got into a routine of an 8pm bedtime every night, I started being able to be active after he was down for the night (typically until at least 2am), and he turned 3 months. I lost 5lbs seemingly overnight.

  • I understand everything you are saying.  I too am breat feeding and I am starving all the time. You probably are working out too much and not eating enough.  I am a weightwatchers lifetime memeber so that has helped me stay on track. As for the schedule, you need to just go with it for now.  Eventually your baby will just fall into a schedule.  As he grows, his schedule will change.  Good Luck!
  • well my LO still isnt on a schedule, except at night he kind of does the same thing, he usually goes to sleep around 930 and wakes upa t 4am to eat and then sleeps till like 7 and then its all random from there. he sometimes sleeps longer or sometimse never sleeps all day? hes a crazy little guy lol.

ive been trying to get him on some type of schedule since ive been at work and it would be easier for my mom (who watches him). but hes a little stinker and wants to do what he only wants to doo.

    but gooodluckk!

  • My LO is 3 months, 2 weeks. I was able to get him on a pretty good evening/bedtime schedule every night. We do bathtime, lotion, jammies, bottle and he sleeps from 9p-6a.  My dad watches him while I'm at work, but he typically does a long morning nap and then catnaps the rest of the day (not as consistent).

We seem to be pretty lucky at this point, but I keep reminding myself that it could all change tomorrow!

I wish you good luck! It's frustrating, but will work itself out. It seems like once I started the nighttime bath routine everything else just fell into place, but I try very hard to be consistent EVERY NIGHT with it. We went to a baseball game on Monday and didn't get home til 10; and that night Finn woke up at 2, 4, and was fussy all day :(
