Worst. Sleep deprivation. Moment. Ever.

What is yours?

I had mine tonight: I was going to make hummus for a meeting tomorrow. Naturally, I had no other time to do this than at 10pm. I had soaked the garbanzos and had to cook them. I had my recipe binder open and partially touching the glass stovetop (side I was not using). I turned on the burner on the other side - NO WAIT, I turned on the wrong burner! I ended up scorching/melting my minder all over our stovetop. It smoked and bubbled and released what I can only imagine was toxic gasses. Now we have an awesomely gross mess on our stovetop and no hummus. I am so annoyed. I blame DS's 4 month wakeful. Sigh...

p.s. Any advice on getting this off safely? A friend suggested using a razor...

  • What a PITA!  Hope you get it out okay.  I guess mine would have to be forgetting to turn the monitor back on- I did that a few times during those sleepless nights....and I'm willing to bet if I continue to think about it, I'll come up with plenty more.

  • I turned on the wrong burner the other day and had coupons sitting on it. I caught it right away so there wasn't any mess.

My worst is forgetting how to do something easy at work. I cried to my boss because I was so tired and so upset that I couldn't remember how to do that task.

  • Sleep deprivation or just mommy brain- I just found a few bills and then all the thank you notes from her baptism I thought I mailed out 3 weeks ago. Oops. Hello late fees!

  • I had to fill a bottle over night a couple nights ago. I go downstairs, grab the bottle and try to fill it with water but its not filling. I started getting irritated because I couldn't figure out what was going on so I grabbed another one and try that one. Same thing. Took me a good couple minutes to realize I didn't put the bottom on, at all (playtex venatires).

That was a major brain lapse.

  • Yes, a razor will work. I burned something onto the stove a while back (can't remember now what it was). We use a razor to scrape stuff off ours all the time, pretty much everyday when we clean it.

  • I was so sleep deprived last week I forgot how to fill my steam mop and forgot my older two's names. Only for like, a minute, but still. DS is named Aidan and I wanted to call him Adam, and DD1 is Aviryne but I kept calling her 'Little One' so I didn't have to remember her name. Parenting failure? Yes. Ingenius? Yes.

  • I parked on the street- we live in a big city- I got DD and our stuff out and situated, and started walking away. About a half of a block away, I remembered to lock it. So I push the button and it makes the noise like a door isn't closed all of the way. I head back in that direction to see what's going on and my driver's side door is wide open!! I feel like half of my brain came out with my baby!

  • Made grilled cheese sandwiches a month or two ago....WITHOUT the cheese?????? I buckled my kids into their seats in the car and then hopped into the passenger's seat and buckled myself up. Sounds great, right? Except I was the only adult and should be in the driver's seat. Ugh.

I randomly do other things when I'm tired. Cereal in the fridge, milk in the cabinet. Bought 2 bottles of shampoo instead of one shampoo, one conditioner.
