Mid-Cycle Spotting?

So the past two days I have had some mid-cycle spotting. I O'ed on Monday or Tuesday. I googled and it said that I could be having some ovulation bleeding, but I have never spotted like this mid-cycle.  I suppose that it could just be a coincidence that this happens on our first TTC cycle, but it has me kind of concerned. Anyone else ever experience this?

Re: Mid-Cycle Spotting?

  • I'm extremely-super-duper regular on my cycle, and usually that answer is a no - but I have noticed that if I'm under a lot of stress or had a particularly hard race, I'll start spotting.  The cycle always rights itself out and ends up being on time, I figure its just my body saying, "Whoa! Chill out."

  • I'm pretty regular and I had two cycles in a row with mid-cycle bleeding.  The second time was actually pretty heavy, I was posting on here wondering if I was having a miscarriage or something.  It was very unusual for me.  That was three months ago?  My cycles have gone back to normal.  I have no idea why it happened, I wasn't under unusual stress or anything, nothing out of the ordinary.

  • My conception knowledge is rusty, but could it be implantation bleeding? I don't want to get your hopes up, it's just what popped into my mind. Dr. Google says:

What does implantation bleeding look like?

Implantation bleeding is vaginal discharge which usually contains a small amount of pinkish or brownish blood. Only about a third of pregnant women experience implantation bleeding.

When does implantation bleeding usually occur?

It can happen at the time the fertilized egg implants in the uterus, on average between 6 to 12 days past ovulation.

I kind of thought that too, but it seems too early. Too early for implantation but too late for O bleeding. ::shrugs::

  • One cycle I started spotting around what would be O time, and though it had never happened before, I shrugged it off to ovulation spotting. It didn't go away though and I had a feeling something was up. I took a test, and I was pregnant... and it ended up being ectopic. Of course this is the extreme, but the moral of the story is to pay attention to it/your body and don't hesitate if you think something might be off. GL!
