So I posted yesterday that in honor of the full moon (and it being my original due date which has since been changed but still...) that I was pulling out all of the OWTs. I thought I would share how some of them failed:
1.) Bouncing on the birthing ball--made me feel carsick!
Also I started thinking...WTH are you actually supposed to do on the ball to bring on labor?? Just bounce up an down? Are there any particular bouncing techniques? Seriously, I'd love some pointers;)
2. Sex--DH pulled out!! Grrr...Sorry for the TMI here but yeah, I finally gave into "doing it for the cause" and DH gets all wrapped up in the moment and pulls out (for fun, he's into that...there's your TMI). The WHOLE POINT as you ladies know is that semen readies the cervix. What a waste!
3.) Pineapple- I tried drinking pineapple juice but thought that the real stuff might be better so I finally get up the energy to drag my toddler out to the car and drive to 3 differenent stores only to find they're ALL out of pineapple.
I am now resigned to being pregnant forever.
Vent over:)
Re: OWTs FAIL! (pretty funny)
Okay. I know EXACTLY how you feel. At 40 weeks, I was at my wits end and ready to go.
WTH are you actually supposed to do on the ball to bring on labor??
- What it's supposed to help out with is getting the baby to drop/drop further. I bounced every night for a week or 2 on that thing. I don't if it actually helped or not, but I did go from a -3 to a -1 from week 39 to 40. You can also rock. I, personally, was a bouncer.
Also, screw all the other stuff. I went in for a pregnancy massage on Friday evening (40 weeks 3 days). After having a labor inducing pressure point massaged (my webbing), my water broke right there on the table. Again, I don't know if this was coincidence or not, but why not use it as an excuse to pamper yourself.
If a massage is out of the question, google the pressure points and have your husband help you out.
GL. Your baby will come. You will not be pregnant forever no matter how possible that seems right now.
Ha! Thanks for making me smile!
I am curious as well - what are you to do on the exersize ball? I googled it, but didn't find any good information.
I bounce straight up and down, side to side (more weight on 1 butt cheek then the other), and front to back (moving your hips kind of like you're having sex). Not sure if any 1 way helps more than another but it sure hasn't hurt anything either. However, I am still pregnant. You can also roll around without bouncing- more for relieving pain than inducing labor, I think. I'm no expert though.
The "sex" one made me chuckle
But seriously- I say take another one for the team with that one. DH and I had some serious sex the night of May 27th and I was in labor by 3am the next morning (baby by 10am). And that was a week early.
I kind of hula my hips when I bounce on the birth ball because it helps with hip pain, but it probably helps baby drop too.
I'm right there with you on being convinced pregnancy is a permanent condition. They say labor's coming, but I'll believe it when I see it. Humph.
