Babies on the Brain

a judgment on parenting....

A "friend" on FB just posted some pictures of her 10 day old daughter as they are taking a road trip. She is obviously holding her dd and they are driving on the highway. Do people just hold their newborn if going on a roadtrip...? Otherwise what a real piece of work. Indifferent

I think what bothered me the most was that her and dh were buckled in and the newborn was just being held in her arms. I think if I saw someone driving down the road with a child being held in their lap I would report it.

Sorry for the vent...this one just gets me

  • It clearly looks as if they are driving being that in one of the pictures you can see a mile marker/road sign and one of them shows clear as day that they are one the road.

  • Call them out and stop being a pansy about it.  A child that is alive is worth more than a friendship, IMO.

Yea, I would make some sort of comment, and I'm surprised someone hasn't already.  I would say something like "Are you guys actually driving, or pulled over?"

My guess is that they pulled over so that the baby could eat, rather than finding an exit.  Especially considering how often a nursing newborn eats.  If they were driving, wouldn't the outside background be blurry, unless they have a fancy camera?

I would still think this is dangerous.  Whenever I've been on the side of the road in the car, I stay buckled in.  Even if we're not moving, someone could hit you and cause you to go flying.  I wouldn't even take my kid out of their seat pulled over on the side of the road, much less a highway.

I would definitely comment.  People are idiots.

I agree with this.  Have you seen videos of police officers being hit while sitting on the side of the interstate?
