I said 7-8, but that's because the birth center we're going to is an hour and a half away.
Hospital distance is my reason for saying less than 3, the hospital is 5 minutes away and I have gone in with contractions 3-4 apart with no changes before, so I am just going to wait for them to go under 3 now.

Whatever my dr tells me. I'm hoping I go into labor durring the day so I can go to her office & get checked to see if it's real or not, and then head home to wait for everything to get closer together. DH will be a basketcase at the hospital, he goes stir crazy really quickly.
I voted 7-8 minutes only because I have to deliver in Boston instead of my local hospital. I suppose it depends on the time of the day. If it's the middle of the night with no chance of traffic, I'll wait until 5 minutes apart. But there's no chance I'll wait that long if it's anywhere near rush hour. I will not have this baby on the side of the road!!!
I honestly don't know this time. With DS it was 4-1-1, but I asked my MW at my last appointment and she said it would depend on how favorable I was . . . but I don't have an answer!
When i start 6-7min ones I will call my OB. My hospital is 40-60min away, but they'll probably be 5 when we leave. My water broke with DD so I wonder if that'll be the determining factor again. I wasn't even contracting regularly when we headed in with her.
The hospital tour/prenatal class told us the 5-1-1 rule. We don't have any issues of distance etc, so I'm sticking to that. I just hope they don't send us back or turn us away saying we're not quite ready yet!
With DD#1, I made 2 trips to L&D thinking I was in labor when I wasn't really. Everyone was super nice to me while I was there, but I still felt so stupid.
This time, I will practically have to be dying of pain for hours before I even think about going in. Or if my water breaks. Especially, now that we live out of town & 40ish minutes from the hospital. There is no way in hell we're driving all the way there & dragging DD#1 to my BFF's house, only to be sent back home.
I had them all night last night, 4-5 minutes apart, for hours. I had initially planned to go when they are 3 minutes apart, but realistically, based on my OB's concern, I will go back as soon as they are 4-5 minutes apart again.
Because I have BH so frequently, the L&D triage nurses have told me not to come in until they're 4-6 min apart and lasting between 60-90 sec for an hour or more. Which sucks because I was having contractions 6-8 min apart for 2 hours earlier today....I wanted to go in so bad!
I almost went last night. They were about 3-1-1.5ish. I called and asked if I should come and they said yes. But I laid down and they pretty much stopped. Annoying. But glad I didn't go in...I would have felt like an a$$.

My DREAM would be to almost deliver as I'm walking into the birthing inn..so I voted for less than 3 minutes. I'll let it get to 2 minutes apart lasting for about an hour for an hour and then go in--we are 5 minutes away and I want to literally labor at home as long as possible!

Just thinking of traffic in Boston makes shudder. I think I would leave now if I had to deal with Boston traffic lol. Where are you from?
I plan on waiting at home as long as possible so I chose 3minutes or less I think that was the option lol. My hospital is about 10 minutes away

My doctor and my hospital both said to go in when the contractions were 5 minutes apart for 1 hour or more. We live about 15 minutes from the hospital with traffic so I'm going to try to stay home as long as possible.
I'm really not sure...I would love to labor at home some, but our hospital is about 50 minutes away and I'm scared to death not to make it on time (I know it's unlikely)...I'm really not sure!
I voted for 5-6, but if it's anything like my first, as soon as contractions start. Mine started at 5 minutes with my first and my labor was only 5 1/2 hours. This time I have an hour drive.
I'm a scheduled repeat c-section and had prodromal labor with DD that got me nowhere. This time around should contractions start before my c-section date they will have to be three minutes apart or less lasting for a good long while before I'll be willing to head in. I got so sick of frequent trips to L&D last time around! I'm also only 5-10 minutes from the hospital so I'm not too worried about not making.
My OB's office's usual recommendation is 5-1-1, however, I am a SS for them.

I live on the South Shore. (Whitman, MA). I actually work at the hospital where I am delivering. I leave at 5:30pm for a 7pm shift. That's without traffic. Hoping I go into labor at an off hour, or at least on a weekend.
Are you delivering at Woman and Infants? I have looked for jobs there. Great hospital. I know someone that works in the NICU and loves it.
I plan on going in when they are consistently 5 minutes apart, or when my water breaks, but all of my family (mom, aunts, cousins) progressed really quickly, even with their first pregnancies, so I'm afraid to wait too long because their entire labors were all less than 10 hours, with the shortest being 4 hours from first contraction to birth.

I put 9-10 minutes apart but thats because we live in South Los Angeles and the hospital were going to is further and it all depends on "OUR LA traffic" sucks i know.
When they are 5 min apart, lasting 1 min for 1 hr.
That's exactly what they told us too.
Yep. My midwife told me this knowing that I live an hour away from the hospital, but I dont expect to give birth on the road since it's my first baby and it will take FOREVER.
Our plan is to labor at the inlaws house for a bit.. They live 5 mins from the hospital so when they are 5mins apart lasting 1min for an hr we will go to inlaws and than when they are 3mins apart lasting 1min for an hr we will go to the hospital. I also will not be going to the hospital once my water breaks im def waiting for that 3-1-1 before we go.
Re: CP: When will you head to L&D with contractions?
I have heard this and 4-1-1.
