Pants Party

I have pants. In fact, I have a lot of pants. I have a lot of pants in a lot of sizes. Very few of my pants fit me. I need pants in a new size. I'm too cheap to buy new pants.

Raise your hand if you are in the same pant[less] boat.

Raise your hand if you would be interested in a "my pants no longer fit me, but someone else's pants might" party.

My thought is that we could have a GTG and bring our pants and have a good old pants swap meet - maternity pants, regular pants, capris, jorts, casual, dressy. What have you. I think we could price each pair (why not make a little extra $, even if we donate all of it?), but maybe try to keep everything under $10 or so. Thoughts?

  • This idea sounds interesting, especially because I'm considering a career change where I'd actually have to get my a$$ dressed and out the front door in the morning.

It's been a year since I switched from a jeans-accepted job to a dress-up job, and I'm still not quite used to it.

Just the Editor pants, nothing exciting. I'll be wearing the black capris tomorrow, though.

It even stresses me out now when I have to go into the office and wear jeans! I'm also stressed at the thought of actually thinking ahead and packing a lunch and not being able to run the dishwasher or do the random load of laundry during the middle of the work day. And, my dog, she lays by my desk all day. What will she do!? Probably I should just post these concerns here. Smile

  • My sister had a party like this a year or so ago.  Except it was more than pants.  You could bring anything you wanted; old house decorations, clothes, kitchen stuff, etc, and eash person "presented" their goods and if you were interested, you swapped for something you brought or just took it if no one else was interested.  There was no $$ involved.  It all evened out as everyone took something of someone elses.  It was fun!

Can we still call it a "pants party?" I just like to say it.

I thought about this, then I got overwhelmed. It doesn't take much to stress me out. I'm fragile like that.

  • What about holey yoga pants?  I didn't see those on the list...

I'm still totally broken up about losing those.

Charlie took them out of the rag bag last week and I couldn't even bear to watch him cut them up. At least a part of them will live on forever to help me dust the house (yeah, as if I actually dust the house).

No holey yoga pants, but holy yoga pants would be priceless.

  • I will be the entertainment.

"Pants on the ground, pants on the ground, lookin like a fool with your pants on the ground"

  • I have a TON of pants and dress clothes in general that I would love to sell. I was just going through them today. Everything is size 8 and I have no intention of being that size again for a long time... obviously that's not by choice. I have so many dress clothes/pants that I can't use anymore. A few suits as well. Anyway, yes, count me in!

  • I dunno if the big expo type thing that was discussed in the group is still in the works, but it could probably be combined with that. I think there were talks of doing something similar (except for baby items and maternity clothes I think). So why not just throw in pants too? Wink

Geez Jess!! What did we tell you about getting into other people's pants? Stick out tongue

There is no way we can find a large enough venue, for free, to  give us enough room to do a swap meet.  We discussed it, and it just won't work well in a clubhouse.

BUT, Let s throw this out there... How about getting a shelter at a HamCo park, doing a swap meet, and a potluck appetizers and mingler?  So those who don't want to swap can come just to chit chat?  Plenty of room, and lots of time to browse and chat.  Just a thought.

  • In non-related discussion here, my best friend used to have 'no pants parties' in college. Running around her apartment after returning from the bars in a shirt and underwear. She's a little crazy.
