I have been fat (hell, I still categorize myself as fluffy) and I have been called lazy, simply because I was fat. Just wondering how others felt about it.
I don't think that lazy is the right word - maybe unmotivated, but that isn't quite right either. I am just speaking from my own personal experience - when I was heavier it was because I was unmotivated to put in the work. I was OK with where I was, and didn't want to put in work to drop some pounds.
Also, for some good friends of mine, they will be great about exercising, but don't watch what they eat - they are unmotivated to tackle that (bigger) part of weight loss.
I guess I don't look at it as either a necessarily "bad" thing, or an across the board thing, though.

I think some fat people are lazy just like I think some skinny people are lazy. I don't think fat = lazy. But, like R9 said, I think it holds true of myself that if I am heavier, I am not exercising or eating right.

This post cracks me up. My next door neighbor, and many other people I know are fat by any measure. My next door neighbor is also independently wealthy and has dedicated her life to helping others. She just got back from Haiti, where she worked on a proposal for grants for a major charity. She is about as lazy as Greg Lemond.

right now I'm heavier then I would like to be and a lot of it has to do with being lazy
For me personally, it is a case of being too lazy/unmotivated to watch and plan what I'm eating, as well as get off the couch and go for a run or play tennis. Or even prioritizing my budget enough to join the gym if I really want to get down to it (I say we can't afford it, but that's just because I'm spending my disposable income on various other things at the moment). Of course it's hard for me to find time with 3 kids, one is a newborn, but I could surely get up at 6am and make it happen if I was so inclined!
Last year I did get motivated and easily/quickly lost the 25 pounds I needed to lose. Then I got pregnant, and now I need to do it again!
If I make a judgement about that, I'd say undisciplined. I don't think I've ever really thought that about other moms, but when I'm in more of a judging position: hiring someone, voting for politicians, etc.
Nope--My Mom is anything but lazy--in fact she's insanely hard worker (& has never had an easy life)--but eating is the thing that gives her pleasure/makes her feel better...for others it's sex/porn, exercise, talking gossip, shopping, helping others, etc. Everyone has strengths & flaws--it just sucks when you literally wear your flaw around for everyone to see & judge (
Re: s/o Do you think fat people are lazy?
I don't think this is the case for everyone though.
Flame suit on!
