Re: What ethnicity do you think of..

  • Why does this matter?  Isaiah is a wonderful name regardless of the ethnicity of the child/parents.  Unless it's with an obviously ethnic middle or last name, then I don't think that any assumptions (negative or positive) would be made about this child...

  • I know 3 Isaiahs:  one is white, one is black and one is Jewish.  I don't think the name evokes a particular ethnicity.

  • I don't know any Isaiahs in real life - which I sort of funny because I grew up in a super large Jewish community, went to Jewish sleep away camp my entire life, and now live in a fairly Jewish area.

With that being said I normally associate it with African-American people because the only people I know of are:

    1. Isaiah Thomas; and

    2. The movie, Losing Isaiah with Halle Berry.

Now if I knew other people with that name I'm sure I would have a different association. I also don't think my association is normal and I doubt most people think the way that I do.

    It's a great name, btw.

  • It's my son's middle name and he is bi-racial (black/white). But we got it from the Bible not any movies, or celebrities.
