I've read several places about buying nursing bras while you're pg since you need new bras anyway. Well I've already gone from a 36C to D, and now they are tight in the cup, not the band. So my question is should my next bras be nursing bras? I'm used to underwire bras and have read where they can cause problems like blocking ducts, but I'm worried about not having that extra support while I'm not feeding yet. Also, do I need to get measured differently for nursing bras than regular? Like if i go to VS or Penny's and get measured, can I just order a nursing bra in that size? Thanks for any input!

This. In the first few weeks after DD was born I just wore the cheapie Medela bras. After that time I was able to settle on a size and buy more normal looking nursing bras.

Get a couple of tank bras for the first few weeks/months. I love the Medela Bamboo tank - the Target ones were decent too. About a week after LO is born, your boobs will BLOW UP. DH used to tease me about crushing the baby with the bowling balls attached to my chest. Then they start to mellow out. I would wait until about 6 weeks before making any expensive bra purchases. And even when you do, I would only buy 1 or 2 bras. Your size will continue to change. At 18 months, I really could use a smaller cup size, but I'm not willing to shell out another $100 for 2 bras.
And I know you didn't ask - but I highly recommend buying a quality nursing bra (Bravado, Anita, etc). I tried Motherhood, Target and Walmart - they all suck (IMHO). As for underwire, that will be a personal decision. I believe, if you are properly fitted, the underwire shouldn't cause a problem - you shouldn't even know it's there. But most people are not properly fitted - 90% of the population wears too small of a cup size and too large of a band size. I was wearing a 40D/E, before I was fitted by a professional at Intimacy. She put me in a 36F. Seriously, it was like the weight of the world had literally been lifted from my shoulders.
