filed for unemployment - nbr short vent

Hate being in that statistic...

I was laid off from my position as a special ed teacher... 

This is the second district, two years in a row...

Special ed teachers are not, as my colleagues would have be believe, "safe".

    Ugh, that's rough! I'm sorry! I am a teacher and my job definitely isn't safe either. It's stressful and I hope you can find a new ob, but for now just remember that filing for unemployment is what's best for  your family right now.

    Ugh, I'm sorry :( I was laid off the Friday before Memorial Day. Filing for unemployment was a sucky feeling but looking on the bright side, you'll get some time home with your LO. Good luck finding something soon!

    I'm sorry. MH had to apply for unemployment. His company closed the day we brought Lucas home from the hospital.

    What district are you in? I am in CA and special ed teachers were the only ones not laid off. Im going back for my special ed credential July to avoid getting pink slipped year after year. Im number 700+ to be rehired. I feel your pain. =(

    I was in Tracy last year and Newark this year. Doing special ed to avoid getting pink slipped is not really the solution. Not only was I pink slipped, I was laid off. I hope you really understand what you are getting into. I love love love my job and wouldn't want to do anything else... but I come home with bruises, change clothes/diapers, and get sworn at. This is in mild/moderate. This is 1st graders.
