Anyone have a birth plan they care to share?

I never did one with Eliza because I was supposed to deliver at a freestanding birthing center where everyone is already on the same page and they already do/don't do everything that would be on my plan. Even though I ended up at the hospital, my MW never left my side so I still didn't have to worry.

Now that we are back in NY, there are no birthing centers, I don't have a MW and my OB would like me to submit a birth plan so we can discuss and implement. Feeling overwhelmed and not sure where to start...

We are Hypnobirthing parents. We would like to experience a quiet, gentle birth free from all unnecessary interventions. This birth plan is intended to express the preference and desires we have for the birth of our baby. It is not intended to be a script. We fully realize that situations may arise such that our plan cannot and should not be followed. However, we hope that barring any extenuating circumstances, you will be able to keep us informed and aware of our options. Thank you so much for your help and support..

First Stage (Labor):

*Dim lights

*Peace and Quiet

*Music of our choice

*Would prefer to keep vaginal exams to a minimum and no breaking of water (if everything is going ok).

*Maintain mobility (walking, rocking, up to bathroom, etc)

*Clear fluids and food if possible

*Intermittent Monitoring (ACOG standards) with an external monitor.

*Please do not offer me pain medications, I will ask for them if I want them.

*Saline lock- no continuous IV fluids (unless medically necessary).

*Use of bath would be ideal.

Second Stage (Birth):

*Peace and Quiet with encouragement between contractions.

*Choice of position

*Prolonged length, if progress is being made

*Spontaneous Bearing Down

*I would prefer to tear than have an episiotomy, but please use compresses, massage, and positioning.

*I would like to use a mirror.

Baby Care:

*I?d like the baby placed on my stomach with warm blankets for the 1^st hour, skin to skin contact to stabilize the baby?s temperature. Please leave vernix on, especially on hands.

*Prefer partner to cut the cord, please wait until cord stops pulsing.

*Delay eye medication for first hour.

*I?d like to try breastfeeding right away.

*No pacifiers, glucose water, or formula.

*Baby to be kept with myself and/or father at all times and not to leave the room (unless asked).

*PKU testing is fine, but absolutely no immunizations (besides Vitamin K) at this time.

No problem! Hope it helps. This was from our Doula...she gave a few examples and this is one we chose and fixed for us. Probably not changing much with this one. Except, the new hospital has wireless monitoring, so I can walk around with the monitors attached and not have wires everywhere! YAY!
