Just letting everyone know that I am at L&D. It's going to be a long road so please keep me in your thoughts and prayers.
I woke up at 2:30am with a large pool of wetness in the bed, soaked
pillow between my legs and wetness all down my legs. We called the
midwife and she said yeah, it sounds like your water broke, call back
when your contractions are 5min apart, for 1 hr and lasting for 1min
each. Well, of course that never happened. at 3 we called the midwife
again (a different one was on call) and she said to come in to the
hospital. We got here about 4:30 and they hooked me up. My
contractions were anywhere from 6-10min apart and not painful at all.
The m/w checked me and said no, your water didn't break. (which I think
is total b/s b/c I know that wasn't pee in the bed since I immediately
got up and peed and it didn't smell like urine). So then she had the OB
resident come and do an u's and they checked my amniotic fluid. Normal
is 5-20. In one spot I was a 2 and in another spot I was a 4. So the
m/w said you aren't going anywhere. We're admitting you and we're going
to put in foli bubble - which is like a bubble on the end of a catheter
that they put in my cervix to make it dilate to 3cm. When she checked
although my cervix was soft it was still long and closed. So they did
that at 6pm and will be starting me on pitocin about 6:30 in the
morning. As soon as they put in the foli my contractions got stronger
and more frequent, although eventually they stopped being so strong.
although they're about 3-5 min apart, just not strong like they need to
be. I'm getting ready to go to sleep (hopefully). Please pray that a
miracle happens overnight because I really, really do NOT want pitocin
and I want to do this as naturally as possible.
Re: In L&D
Sending prayers and labor dust your way. The doc gave me a foli cath with DS1 - I hope it works for you so you don't have to have pitocin!

Update at 11:30am Thursday
I was able to get about 4 hours of sleep last night. The foley bulb came out this morning, which means I was at least 3 cm dilated at that time. They put me on pitocin at 6:15, starting at a level 2 and it's been upped about every 1/2 hour and I'm now at a level 20. I'm having contractions about every 3-4 minutes though not strong enough to make me uncomfortable. They won't check my cervix until I am "uncomfortable." In the meantime my doula arrived, and we have done some yoga, walked a few times, done some acupressure and just hung out.
Thanks for your positive thoughts!
