Success after IF

Diaper rash help!

Poor DS is on day two of diarrhea. His poor little bum is a mess! I tried asking behind the pharmacy counter for the cream a bunch of you recommended but I couldnt remember what it was called and they didn't have anything anyways. What other tips do you have for us? :(

Daniel's never had a really bad one - but I think A&D (the zinc oxide) works better than anything.

  • We have a lot of parents who swear by butt paste or triple paste. I hope his little butt feels better soon!

  • Calmoseptine!!!! Go get it tonight and he'll be better in the morning.  They carry it at Walgreens, most other places can order it and have it in within 24 hours.

ETA: This isn't a "diaper rash" cream so if that's what you were asking for (or looking in the baby dept)  that may have been why you didn't have any luck.  My DH has a lot of poop problems and we've tried tons of stuff.  This stuff is seriously a miracle we put it on DS at any hint of red.

  • I think all diaper rash creams are pretty much worthless except Triple Paste.  I've never had any success with anything except Triple Paste...

  • Air that butt out as much as you can, too!

  • Looks like you've received lot of suggestions on the cream so I'll just skip to the poops.

I highly recommend giving probiotics for the poops.  Our pedi recommended this to us last time Hadley went on antibiotics to help with the poops that follow.  It worked great!  These are the probiotics we use.

this and ditto on triple paste...
  • I always mix desitin max with a rx cream for yeast and it works fast, especially if it looks yeasty. If not, just desitin max and change the dipe every hour two. Hope it gets better quick!
  • So sorry to hear this Abby! We always have fast results with Butt Paste.  But see if he'll take some vanilla activia too - that may help him.  It always helped C. Good luck to you & Jones!!
  • We use butt paste butt when it gets really bad, we use Nystatin, which is prescription.

  • Using warm washcloths instead of wipes comes recommended to us and seemed to work with our little girl.  That and lots of Desitin!  Poor little guy - hope he's all healed up soon!

  • I have always had success with Triple Paste. JJ has had an issue already and I picked up Hiney Helper at BRU and it has really cleared things up. Good luck
  • We have been fortunate and never had to deal with this but when I cared for infants we use to put on a coat of desitine, A&D, or triple paste and then sprinkle cornstarch on their bum.

Good luck, hope he gets some relief!

  • Dd has had diarrhea for days and the pedi said to use bag balm. He said it would work better than the zinc oxide creams because of the acid in the diarrhea.

Cornstarch is a no-no for yeast...make very sure it isn't yeast before you use cornstarch.

  • i use desitin, corn starch, and then the boudreaux's anti-rash oil spray. i hope it passes soon, poor marlo always seems to have a diaper rash coming or going.

  • Thanks so much ladies!! I found the calmoseptine and bought some active and probiotics. We also had a disastrous butt airing session... Eww. That was much easier and safer before he was mobile!! Lol! My poor carpet...
