Okay, so I've never had a yeast infection in my life, but of course I would get one now that I am pregnant. I asked my Dr (whom if you remember, I don't have a lot of trust in anyway) about it monday at my first appoinment and without testing me to see if that was what I had he told me to take Diflucan. I have a ton of pregnancy books (apparently I like to read) and they all say not to take Diflucan because it can cause birth defects and that you should take monistat instead. Well, the Dr said just the opposite. So, before I took the pill I called him and asked for him to test me, he said I did have a very minor infection and wrote me the prescription and assured me again that this was the recommended route. So, when I went to the pharmacy tonight the pharmacist told me the pill was NOT recommended during pregnancy and that I should take the cream instead.
So, with all my conflicting information, I was going to see if any of you have had a yeast infection while pregnant and what your Dr recommended. TIA!!
Re: diflucan while pregnant??
I always seem to get them while pregnant. My docs always said to take the OTC stuff, but the 3 day, not the one day. I always take Diflucan when I'm not pregnant, but I have to put up with the goopy stuff when pregnant.
Did you take the pill or no?

I've had this conversation with my sister (pharmacist) and my dr. Both said no Diflucan during pg. My sister said there are not enough studies done on the medication at this point.
They both recommended to take the 7 day cream inserts instead (not the one or 3 day). My OB actually said that if it was mild, to use an external Monistat cream and eat lots of yogurt to see if that will clear it up first.
With all that conflicting info, I'd just use the 7 day cream and not chance it.
I have heard that YIs are very common during pregnancy, especially with this heat. I hope you get relief soon, they fn suck!

Hopefully you can find a safe way to clear everything up. I hope you can find a new Dr. that you love and trust very soon.
I had one with my first pregnancy in the first trimester. The Dr recommended Monistat OTC, but just the cream. She said not to use the suppositories.
ETA: I hope you feel better soon.
