Are there grandparents who recently got residential custody of their grandchildren? I brought my newborn granddaughter home from the hospital and had to go to work the next day. No 6 week maternity leave for me. I'm in Lakewood, Ohio.
I am not in that situation, but I think you would qualify for FMLA leave. It wouldn't be paid leave, but at least it would give you some time to get things settled.
50 or more employees at your place of work and you should get FMLA if your are the legal guardian from what I've heard (we see grandparents raising newborns in our NICU fairly regularly)
