Success after IF

kid's favorite snacks?

I need to come up with some better, easy snacks for DS to munch on while I'm making dinner.  Right now he tends to get puffs or freeze dried fruit...but I'd like to start switching to more normal foods...  ideas?

(btw...he's been having a blast feeding all of his puffs to the dog the last few days...I don't have the heart to stop his giggles and ruin his fun!!  HA!)

Re: kid's favorite snacks?

  • Cheerios (esp now that we are on WCM because they are good for iron), bunny graham crackers (though, ours have honey so we didn't give them until after her birthday), fresh berries, cut up cheese sticks... Those are our go tos.

  • In addition to what LC said we do veggie straws, although not really healthy, and the gerber cheese doodles.  She loves these, although not sure they have any value add, except buying me time?

  • Pirate botty.. Jake loves it..goldfish he shoves like 10 of them in his mouth at a time...animal crackers that's more for dessert though after dinner...cheese.. Grapes...peaches.. Ritz crackers..graham crackers again though more for dessert..

I'll just echo what others have said - cut up cheese sticks or string cheese, berries, bananas, annies bunnies (honey or cheese), earth's best graham crackers or regular crackers. Of course, we do a lot of puffs and freeze dried fruit as well!
  • Thanks guys!!  you are the best! :)
  • Frozen peas.  I just boil some up real quick on the stove, but you could probably heat them up in the microwave too?

And my bff's kid like to eat them frozen, not cooked, so there you go :)

  • At that age we did a lot of canned green beans or carrots as snack.  Just heat up a few at a time in the microwave.  I liked them because they were already soft enough for him to eat with very few teeth.  We also did beans (black, navy, great northern).

Now I try to put him in his chair with some part of dinner that might be ready first (or he's least likely to eat much of).  Tonight that was butter beans because they were ready first.
