C-section ladies. Did you have sutures, staples, or both? UPDATE

I have both and they are taking out my staples today. I'm kind of freaked out about it. Did it hurt to have them removed? Did they do any prep before removing them? I'm going to take a pain pill 1/2 hour before I go. Thanks!! Ok I must have a very low tolerance for pain cause it was a bit painful. They only removed 1/2 of the staples (every other one) and now I get to wear a very lovely girddle. LOL! I haven't tried it on yet as I'm wearing my Velcro binder right now. I go back on Monday to have the rest removed.

  • I had staples this last time and no, it didn't hurt to have them removed.

  • I had sutures and tape and they fell out/off as they dissolved.  It was mostly painless.

    Ditto!

  • I had Dermabond. It's like super glue. I didn't have anything taken out.

  • I'm no help...I had sutures and tape that my OB took off after two weeks. The sutures dissolved.
  • I had staples and it was so easy getting them taken out. I was so worried and made DH come with me for it. It was fine!
  • I had staples both times. I was REALLY nervous about getting them removed the first time. I mean, really, the thought of getting them out without being sedated creeped me out. I thought I would feel it, because I was envisioning the same thing as when you remove a staple from a piece of paper. Plus I had a very unpleasant experience related to sutures when I was little following my apendectomy.

Anyway, I'm happy to tell you that it 1) doesn't hurt. AT ALL. 2) it doesn't feel anything at all like staples coming off a paper. 3) it's over with really quickly.

It feels like someone tugging at your skin very lightly. It's kind of about the same as removing an earing. Easy peasy. Don't stress it.

  • I updated in the original post but the iPad doesn't do paragraph breaks. UGH.

  • I had something resembling glue.

  • I had both. I had sutures underneath the skin and then the skin on top was stapled. The nurse took the staples out the day I went home. It itched/pinched more than hurt.
