what kind of thermometer do you use for your ~2yo?

we still go the rectal route. he doesn't mind much since he's sick when I use it.

we do have a temporal one too, but he thinks it's a toy and beats me over the head while trying to take my temp

LOL, thanks for the reply. we still use a rectal one but my friend was just saying something about how her pedi told her not to use it anymore because it can perforate the bowel if you don't use it correctly. i hadn't heard of that so i just wanted to check with the all-knowing austin nesties.

Temporal. I have never done the recal temp. It just freaks me out.

I've always used a regular thermometer and done it under the arm. Its not exactly accurate and you have to add a degree, but its worked well enough for us. I don't need to know their exact temperature. Usually, just feeling her forehead is enough to tell me that she's sick.
