Hey Ladies...The great news is that Tallen has turned and dropped, so as long as he stays that way, there is one less reason for me to need a C-Section. And he is practicing breathing and moving all around and has a TON of hair! But, he is big. I know U/S are just an estimate, but this was a level II and they are generally more accurate (from what I understand). He is 6 lbs 8 oz right now. And if we go full term, I still have about 5.5 weeks. I have an appointment with my regular OB next week, and we will talk about my options. We are trying very very hard to not have a c-section, because of potential complications from my GB. She said she would likely induce early (as long as it was safe and he was strong enough) as opposed to waiting until 40 weeks. Anyone have experience with this?
TIA!
J
Re: Growth U/S today...Baby boy is pretty big...
I'm in a similar situation, although I think my little guy is bigger than yours, as he measured 6lb 3oz at 32w, and 8lb 4oz at 36w. My OB is recommending a c-section at 39w, although I also have the option of an induction at that point as well. I'm having another ultrasound at 38w and a consult/second opinion at one of the university hospitals in the city as I really had my heart set on a natural, vaginal delivery. We are waiting until after the u/s next week to make our final decision (induction vs. c-section), but either way my OB won't let me go past 39w.
Glad to hear your little guy has turned and dropped, hopefully he'll make his grand entrance on his own before any interventions are needed!
they are usually off by about a pound either way... to me it might be worth the risk depending on the estimate.
it sound slike you are looking at 7 1/2 to 9 1/2. id tell my DR i want another estimate before making that decision, maybe in 3 weeks. However I personally dont want to birth a 9.5 lbs baby
Not sure if you saw my earlier post, but my best friend had a baby this morning and she had been measuring in the 99th percentile. Her water broke at 7:30pm and the baby was born at 1:40am after only 10 minutes of pushing and no epidural. She weighed 9lbs 9oz. and was 10 days early. So.....I know its scary, but you can totally do it!!
After 3 failed Clomid+TI cycles, DD was conceived with IUI#1
TTC #2
Clomid 50 mg + IUI#1 = BFP, m/c and D&C at 7w1d
Clomid 50mg + IUI#2 = BFN
Clomid 100mg + IUI#3 = BFN
Lupron + Follistim + IVF#1 = 11ER, 10M, 10F, ET of 1 expanded BBA 5-day blast, 2 Frosties. BFP! Beta 10/13 = 264! Beta 10/15 = 702! EDD 6/21/14
I had a growth ultrasound at 32 weeks 4 days. Baby was measuring approx 5.5 pounds which I was told could be off 1/2 lb either direction. According to head and tummy measurements he was in the 97th percentile. My doctor suggested not going past my due date due to the fact that weight gain can increase rapidly towards the end and I can also incur increased complications.
As of my appointment yesterday we will be scheduling an induction for 39 weeks. Partially due to size and partially due to the flooding we are experiencing in the Midwest. We are looking at having to double our 1 hour interstate drive to a 2 hour highway drive if flooding continues. I am all about delivering at 39 weeks. At that point baby boy will be full term and complications are minimal. Also, I am not comfortable in my ability to deliver a baby at home or in a car
I would prefer to go on my own like I did with my daughter but my gut is telling me to listen to my doctor.
I had a growth u/s at about 30wks then again at about 33.5wks...my first u/s showed LO being "larger" then the next showed baby in the 60%percentile, which is pretty average.
My OB had scared me after the first u/s with c/s talk. Now that the second was done, he said we don't need to worry about c/s now.
Its frustrating how they jump the gun of c/s talk. Hope everything works out and you get your delivery plan that you wanted!
I must have a very strange OB. Mine never mentions stuff like this. She doesn't talk induction until after EDDs and even then she takes the "baby will come when its ready" approach. As far as size goes...she always says "these are just estimates...and they are usually off..." before saying how big he is.
Hmpf.
