Anybody used a doula in the past or thinking of using one now? I'm going through Healtheast Midwives and delivering at St. Joe's in St. Paul. I'm thinking about a natural birth. Any thoughts on doulas? Where to find them, past experiences, etc?
I looked at childbirthcollective.org, and was a bit overwhelmed with choices. Was hoping to narrow it down some.
Re: Doulas
I started looking by going on DONA.org & childbirthcollective.org. I found several in our area & did some phone interviews. From there I set up in-person interviews w/a few I had liked over the phone. We knew instantly when we found her. We all clicked. If you want I can PM you her info.
I'm using Robyn too!! It's for this pregnancy, so I haven't had her with me in labor, obviously.
A girl I went to high school with is a doula, prenatal yoga teacher and hypnobabies childbirth instructor. She had her first child in a hospital, and the second one at home. She is very enthusiastic about the birthing process and when I'm ready to have a baby I will probably hire her. Doulas not only provide support for the mom's for the dad's as well.
If you are still in the market, I'm using Ann Kirchner (https://www.farmingtonbirthservices.com/)
I haven't been through L&D yet, but I loved all of our prenatal sessions and she's been really great. I learned a lot from her!
