Mamas of girls, ear piercing?

Anyone else pierced their DD's ears or planning to?

I want to get DD's ears pierced, but am unsure when.

  • i'm against it but the bf is all for it. he's supposed to call the doctor and see if she can get them done this month at her 4 month appt. later this month. if he can't then, then he'll do it as soon as the doctor ok's it. i spoke my piece and told him that if he decided to get them done he was responsible for cleaning them and turning them etc. so we'll see lol.

  • When DD was a baby we got them done around 4 months. I figured it was easier to get them done at a young age when she would be less likely to play with them and get an infection.

  • I was going to do it at 3 months but my pedi recommends waiting until atleast 6 months. Not sure if I will listen, I really want to do them soon!
  • When she's 10 y/o, if she wants to, she can get them pierced. :)

  • When she's old enough to want them/asks for them pierced herself and can take care of them. I got my ears pierced on my 4th birthday. It was such a big deal for me I remember it vividly.
  • You're supposed to wait until 6 months, due to vaccines. We're still on the fence about when/if we'll do it...Probably not until a year.

  • Our Pedi said we could go ahead and do it now that she has had her 2 month shots.  I just can't find the right ones and am unsure about where to get them done.

  • I was told as long as they had their 3 month shots, they're good to go. My pedi doesn't do it, so i'm looking into others around my area that do. I'll be taking DD as soon as possible- can't wait!

  • I am all for it and can't wait to do it.... but honestly, I can't believe some of you are already about to have it done. I think I will wait until DD is at least 1, maybe 2.

  • I will let Maisie pierce her years when she goes to school. Maybe as a "congrats, you're a big girl off to grade 1" type of thing.

Nah. Its a personal preference, and I personally don't like how babies and young girls look with pierced ears. She can have it done after age 10 if she wants it then.

  • My mom had mine and my sister's done when we were 6 weeks old.  I am happy that I don't remember it.  I got a second hole done when I was 14 and it sucked.  Even though I took care of them they got super infected and I had a migraine for a week.  I love the look of babies with pierced ears Yes

  • when she asks for it
  • When she's older and wants to have it done (and we decide that it's an ok age). I had mine done at 9 and it was an awesome memory. I have no memory of pain and didn't have any infection.

  • With DD I did not do them when she was an infant. I didn't want to have to deal with her pulling on them (she was an ear puller) and possibly hurting herself. She started to express interest in wanting her pierced as she neared 3 so I told her when she was going potty all the time on the big girl potty that she could get them pierced. I kinda thought she'd forget about it but she didn't! I think about two days of going in the potty and she was asking me when I was gonna get her some earrings!

We haven't had any problems with infection since she got them pierced.
