Success after IF

Household chore list for Monty - everyone else feel free to add if I forgot something!

Here's our chore list:

Food - ME.  This mean making all formula/food for the boys and packing their DC bag.  I'm also responsible for our dinners and weekend meals.  Dh has to figure out his own breakfast and lunch.  Being in charge of meals also mean that I decide when we need to order out or eat out.  He gets to suggest but I'm the final decision maker there.  This also means I do all the grocery shopping.

Outdoors - HIM.  Pool & lawn maintenance.  He calls the shots on when to call in professional help.  But if it's outside, he does it.  This also includes watering the plants that our sprinklers do not cover.  He is also responsible for keeping the patio furniture clean.

Putting the boys down for naps on weekends - ME.  Believe it or not, this is a huge point of contention in our house.

Late night snacks - HIM.  Once a week, Harry likes to get up for a midnight snack.  It's all him.

Early AM weekends - HIM.  If the boys are up before 7am on weekends, it's QT with Daddy.

Cleaning - ME/OUTSOURCED.  We have a cleaning lady that comes every other week, but I pick up all the maintenance tasks.

Coordination with medical care - ME.  I'm responsible to for setting up all medical appt and taking them there.  If I can't do it, I will ask  him to take a day or work from home and take the boys.  But mostly it's me.

Coordination with DC - ME.  I'm the first line of contact there.  Also I make sure they have enough supplies for DC.  So it's my job to make sure they have enough clothes/diapers/wipes etc at DC.

Laundry - ME.  I do and fold everyone's laundry

Dry Cleaning - HIM.  Since it's mostly his clothes that need to be dry cleaned.  He picks up/drops off on his time.

Pay bills - HIM

Daycare drop off - ME.

Daycare pickup - HIM/In laws.  He picks up 1 day a week, MIL does 3, and I do Fridays when I work from home.

I think that's all.... did I miss anything?

  • I think this list is brilliant. My guess is it helps so that no one is extra resentful of the other one for not doing their share of a specific chore. (I wish I was brave enough to assign all of the cleaning to me!) Big Smile

  • LOVE THIS - I'm going to sit down with him and go over all the points that apply to us and get this under control.  No more screaming matches over laundry in the Monty household :-)

thanks OS - YOU ROCK.  I'm super jealous of the cleaning lady BTW

  • I think nailing down who deals with early morning wake ups on the weekends is a great idea! I think this is becoming a problem for us because we don't have an agreement.

I would also add who deals with vermin infestations simply because this is currently a big problem in our house.  I have to deal with the ants & calling the exterminator.  I am currently hunting down mice in the basement including going out to buy the traps, setting them, retrofitting them, and I'm sure the eventual removal of dead mice.  DH is squeamish so this falls to me.  It is slightly annoying because he seems to be just ignoring the problem hoping it will go away.

    I

When the boys were younger and the early mornings were more guaranteed, we would each sign up for one "morning shift" on Friday night (yes, hot friday night date).  Now that they sleep in some weekends, I've weasled my way out of it.  I used to use my ahem "charms" to get him to take my "shift"!

hehe. i've been known to occasionally get DH to do one of my chores in exchange for a coupon for a certain activity (wink wink). =)
