Success after IF

Are fisher price rock-n-play's worth it?

With twins comming in October, we'd need to buy a 2nd PnP for our bedroom (since the babies will room with us for about 2-3 months).

A second PnP will be about $70 and I can use it for about 2 years when we travel.  If I get 2 Rock and Plays (are these called RnP's??) they will cost me about $110 and I will use them when the babies sleep in my room and maybe a little while for travel.  Eventually I will still need to get the 2nd PnP anyway.

So what do you think, are RnP's really worth the money?

  • I love my RNP.  I think this has totally contributed to DD's awesome sleep habits.  Plus, it is really convenient to travel with.

  • I'm going to say it depends on your situation.  My son had reflux and we had to hold him upright for 30 minutes after eating, which meant I kept falling asleep while holding him in the middle of the night.  The RNP let me put him back to bed right after feeding him so it was absolutely amazing for us.  If he didn't have reflux, I never would have bought it.

It took 3 1/2 long years, but we finally got our little miracle!

  • oops...duplicate
  • I'd wait and see if they need to sleep inclined like that.  DS1 did fine in his crib almost right away (or a PNP) but DS2 has reflux pretty badly and was in the RNP for a few months.

  • hmm...bump ate my post...

well..I adored our RNP...the things i loved about it:

DS had reflux, so he was much more comfortable in the reclined rnp than he ever was on his back.

I had a c-section, so just being able to reach over at bed height and give him a binky, rock him or even get him out to feed him was easier than it would have been for me.

I am convinced that his early good sleep habits were because I could easily reach over and stall his full on crying for a while and lengthen the time between full wakeups.  (although this all went out the window around 3 months..but those 6 weeks of STTN were amazing!!)

it took up way less space in our bedroom than a pnp (let alone 2) would.

I think he liked the more snuggled feeling it provided him

That being said, i understand the financial reasons for wanting to use the pnps...can you just put them both in one until you figure out what their personalities/needs are like?   can you borrow one or two?  If you are anywhere near the pittsburgh area, you are welcome to use mine!

  • If I were in your shoes, I would keep them in the same PnP for the beginning and then assess if you really need another PnP or RnPs.  My boys stayed in the same PnP for the times they were in my room.  I think Harry could've benefited from the RnP, but Alex was plenty comfy in the PnP.

We just got our PeaPod plus for travelling since they are finally too big for the one PnP.

  • Absolutely worth it. My DD lived in hers for the first 4 months of her life. We still use it at the pool and when we are outside at BBQs and such.

For this child I prayed, and the LORD has given me my petition which I asked of him.

By far, the BEST baby product on the market.

I personally think all newborns should be elevated after eating and for sleeping and that is exactly what the RNP sleeper does. DS2 had horrible reflux and seriously believe this product helped tremendously. We are using it again for baby #3.

  • Love them!!!  They are so easy to move around and travel to grandma's....so much easier than the PnP's!  Miles had reflux adn it was awesome for him!  I think it also helped both of them feel a little more secure/cozy when they first came home since they were so little and they seemed to get lost in their cribs.  We still are using them and the boys seem to love them.

  • The RNP was our savior and a curse! DD wouldn't lay flat (only slept being held) for 8 wks. The day we put her in the RNP she slept about 6 hrs straight. She slept great in that thing. BUT when she outgrew it (started crawling out of it around 6 months) she refused to sleep in her crib and we are still struggling getting her to sleep more than 1-2 hr stretches.
