Lately I've been feeling what could very likely be some form of PPD (I've read that it can hit virtually any time after birth, though can't find very much specific information on the issue). My twins will be 2 in August, so it seems unreal. But lately, my lack of energy, interest, my sleeplessness, my sadness, and anxiety is really getting the best of me in a bad way.
BLEW up on DH finally about 2 weekends ago right before we had a party at our house...fun stuff. Thing is I'm really great at keeping things in and pretty good at faking it...but I'm not capable of reaching the "fake it until you make it" stage.
So a few questions: Should I try to find a dr. who specializes in PPD, or is it too far after the kids were born? If you've been in a situation, how did you go about finding a dr. you liked? When I searched for providers through my insurance website, the list was HUGE. Any helpful hints until I can get an appointment?
Re: PPD hitting close to the 2-year b-day?
I don't know whether it would be PPD or just regular depression- but either way, it is great that you are getting help.
Maybe you could call your primary care doctor and have him/her make a referral to a therapist for you. At this point, I don't know that the treatment would be tailored specifically for PPD, so you can probably see any qualified therapist your insurance will cover. Also, your primary care doctor can prescribe medication for your depression, which will also help you feel better.
I hope that you feel better soon.
