Egg replacers/substitutes?

I am allergic to egg whites and DS2 is allergic to egg yolks and egg whites. I need to use an egg replacement thing but have no idea where to even look. I saw one box at a local grocery store but it was a box. Are egg replacers some sort of powder? I was in a hurry so I wasn't able to really read the box nor did I buy it.  Does anyone have any recommendations?

Re: Egg replacers/substitutes?

  • We use flax and water (you can google exact measurements, sorry I'm on my phone). People swear by the ener g boxed replacer but I didn't have a lot of confidence in the ingredients. Plus we love flax and use it a lot in other things, it's high in omegas, win win :)

  • For baking I use unsweeted apple sauce or silken tofu.  I also tried a powdered replacement (Ener-G I think it was called) and that worked well too.

  • i either use the Ener-G or mix flaxseed meal with water.  Here is a good article that was recently posted on FB by KWFA.

  • I think the Ener-G was the one at the grocery store I briefly saw. I'm assuming if you use flax it needs to be ground or the meal or whatever they call it? I have flax oil in the house right now.

Off to read the link by the pp! Thanks guys for your help!
