What did you do about your oversupply? I'm having major issues! G is really spitty (like spitting out a few ounces!) and is on prilosec. It was working then I went back to work and am pumping. He's only taking an ounce here or there at dc but with me he wants to nurse 24/7. Bella used to comfort nurse but I feel like I'm always pulling him off bc if I don't then he spits up a ton! At work I pumped 29 ounces the other day. While very cool, it's sad because when I'm with him he's getting WAY too much! I suspect this has been a problem since the beginning since he's overly spitty... any tips/hints?

I had oversupply as well and a foremilk/hindmilk imbalance too (and active letdown...ugh)...all of which made Libby spit up a lot too and have greenish poops. Block feeding fixed it right up for me. I only fed from one side for 2 times in a row and then switched to the other side for the next 2 feeds. Full breasts = not making more milk, so block feeding signals your body to slow down/back off on the supply. And by feeding twice on one side, baby gets more of the fatty, creamy hindmilk rather than always the watery foremilk which is higher in sugar and can be upsetting to their digestive systems (hence the spitting up and liquidy poops)!
HTH! Kellymom.com has more info. too...I started there and then asked a local LC about it....it helped A LOT!

oh wow, I read how much you were pumping but did not realize that he isn't taking much milk while away from you!! no wonder you have over supply!! maybe you can work on cup feeding him if he won't take the bottle? we had to work on that and I know Lori had a lot of success w/that with Libby. we had some success but I didn't go back to work until 12 weeks and she would take some milk from the bottle so we only used the cup "part time"
for over supply I also did the block feeding like Lori described... I used to have my mom and aunts ask me "but how could she possibly be getting enough milk from just one side?!" but they obviously did not understand what was going on. after a while of feeding 2x on one side before switching to the next I transitioned to just feeding on one side and then the next time I'd feed on the other side.
b/c she choked a lot during my let down I had to nurse her in the rocker and lean it back so that gravity would have my milk going towards me and not her and that did seem to help quite a bit... I forgot what they call this but it's on kellymom... once it got a little better I could nurse on my side w/her in bed w/me and that was ok and a lot better than just sitting up and nursing
I also just backed off of my pumping since I knew I had plenty of milk.... if you can't get G to take more milk while you are gone you may want to back off of your pumping and only pump to relieve engorgement. I know the ideal situation would be to get him to take more milk while you are gone so you don't have to do that....but if you can't, then that's what I'd suggest. you can't have your body thinking that it needs to make 2x as much milk!!
make sure you check out kellymom b/c I found the info there to be helpful... I don't think there was anything that I did that wasn't listed on the oversupply page there

Butting in, but ditto Lori's post. I did block feeding as well and it helped a ton!
Thanks ladies. I've been block feeding and that's been helping a bit. It sucks because we had my supply under control and then I went back to work and it seems to have screwed everything up. I read on kelly mom that most kids take 19-30 oz a day... if that's the case, in 12 hours I'm pumping what he should be taking in 24 hours!! Insane. People say "oh you are so lucky" but it doesn't feel lucky when he's spitting up like a mad man!
Today he did good with the bottle and with fresh milk. He doesn't want to take the frozen, Bella did the same thing and eventually took it. I'm able to send fresh so it's working out. I'll send fresh until the frozen starts to go bad. Which I've read can be good for up to a yr in the deep freezer. We'll see, maybe he'll eventually take it and it won't be an issue. I think fresh is probably best for him anyways right? It probably tastes the best too. Did you guys use your freezer milk and then freeze what you pumped or give fresh and "supplement" with frozen? Or did you use fresh until some of the frozen was getting ready to go bad? With Bella we mostly used frozen and then just froze what I pumped... I'm not sure why, that's just what we did. It worked out fine. I think for him I may give him fresh and then only use the frozen if I need too....
I've tried the block feeding and I've talked to 2 LC's. Today I'm not pumping quite as much which is good. I don't want him to be uncomfortable and not be able to comfort nurse.... that said, last night he nursed EVERY HOUR from 11pm-5am!! I'm exhausted! The block feeding seems to help a little bit but he's still so spitty. Poor guy. he's mostly a happy spitter though. he was really gassy early in the evening last night so I think he was getting a lot of the foremilk...
I never had these issues so it's all new to me!! Who knew there was so much stuff to know when you are BF your kid?!
Thanks for all of the input ladies!!
Glad the block feeding is helping some.
Regarding the milk...I always feed frozen to Ashton first. I would pump duirng work then go home and freeze it. I always took frozen bags to day care everyday. If he was with me he would be nursed, thus fresh:)
