Today T and I had dentist appointments, this being his first! He was suppose to come sit on my lap and let them look in his mouth. Well instead they took him (and his daddy) in his own room where he sat in the chair by HIMSELF! They did a full cleaning and fluoride treatment. He just let them do it I guess! He left with a goodie bag full of stuff and a balloon. He of course was the hit of the office. Unfortunately I missed all of it since I was in the room next to him getting my teeth cleaned. I didn't expect him to actually sit in the chair and get a cleaning! He's getting so big!
Re: AW: So proud of my little man!
This! Great job, T!
Congrats! That is awesome!
I have not been to the dentist in about four years, because I am scared to death of them. =(

Have you tried something like giving him the tooth brush, with a little cup of water and let him sit in front of the TV watching Dora while he "Brushes". I realize it might start a bad habit at first but as soon as he becomes comfortable with brushing you can move it to the bathroom. We started doing that with T at 2 and now he reminds me before bed that he "has to brush his teef". I of course brush them first, we sing a song "Brusha Brusha Brusha your teeth" and he says "Ahhhh". Then I give him a chance to brush them as well.
We also kind of play dentist as well, I would say "Let me check your mouth, hmmm yep I see a tooth". Then I'd let him do the same. Now he will come up and say "Momma let me check your mouth". But to be honest I am blown away that he sat by himself and they used the actually polishing tool on him! I mean seriously! We're going to get him his own little sonicare tooth brush.
We've tried it all. He is teething right now (upper molars), so I think it hurts him to have a toothbrush in his mouth or he's afraid of it due to teething. He'll grow out of it soon enough. We will go to the dentist once is teeth are all the way through. I know it's late, but I am not too concerned with him going to the dentist right now. The dentist wouldn't be able to get into his mouth anyway!

I don't think it's late, the last dentist told Ryan there is really no point OTHER than getting the child comfortable with going until they are closer to 3. Of course that will depend on the dentist I guess. They didn't say anything to us about being late. I'm so glad I waited though, because any sooner I don't think he would have understood what was going on. Because we waited he had an easier time with it.
