Easy at home exercises?

So, the baby weight that was going to shed naturally has come off.  It is now time for me to do my work to get the rest of the flubb off me. :)  We are watching money much closer now and I'd rather not get a gym membership - it's not like I have time to go to a gym anyway!

Are there any at home exercises you can recommend?  I'm going to Google too, but I thought I would check to see what has worked for some of you.  I have an exercise ball, but are yoga and pilates good for getting you in shape?  (I have DVDs)  I thought it was more for just flexibility and relaxation.

I appreciate your thoughts!  (Sorry for so many posts!)

  • Do you have Comcast cable?  If so the On Demand section under excersise has some great 20 to 60 min workouts. I do them during my lunch hour. This way some days I do yoga or kick boxing I can choose which ever kind of workout I feel like.

  • What about running?  You just need shoes.  It has done wonders for me.

  • I like the strength training DVD's mostly by Jillian Michaels.  I have the 30 day shred and ripped in 30.  I tried running and it wasn't for me.  I lost all the baby weight mostly by lowering my calories and changing my diet though.  I highly recommend My Fitness pal as a tool to get started.  It's free!

  • running is the easiest, if you can do it.

There are lots of ways you can include your kiddo too.  Lay on your back, pur her on your shins and do crunches and kiss her as she comes closer.  You can do dips with her on your lap and plank/push ups with her underneath you.

W's favorite thing is to lay on my back while I do push-ups or to ride on me while we "crab walk" around the house.  And then I do a bunch of dips with him sitting on me and my arms burn.

And yoga isn't just for flexibility and relaxation.  Some of the most amazing bodies I've ever seen have been in the yoga studio.  It's more strength training and mind conditioning than anything.

  • Thanks!!!  It is really hard for me to run because I have terrible shin splints  We don't have Comcast :(, but I'll try my yoga DVDs out and see what I can find on the shred stuff.  Also, great idea incorporating A too!

I've definitely started eating in meals instead of snacking and choosing much better food.

    Thanks for all the tips!

  • It's not for everyone, but my husband is currently doing the INSANITY workout.  It's a 12 week long workout that lasts 45min -1 hour each day.  He does it in our garage and the best thing about it is that you need NOTHING but your body.  He is on week 6 and is already noticing a dramatic difference - he can see his abs for the first time since college :)

My hope is to join him in 6 weeks when he will start back over again with the program.

The DVD set retails for $140 - but we got it off craigslist for $70.
