  • My name is Allie.  DH and I started TTC 6/2009, about 3 months before our wedding (I just had this bad feeling it was going to take a while) after 15 months we saw and RE.  I was on 4 cycles of Clomid before we got our BFP on 4/8/11 and it was confirmed with betas on 4/11.  On 4/16 I started spotting, and I was told to come in the next day for a u/s.  Doctor didn't find anything but my ovaries were blocking the tubes.  I went to the ER a few hours later with sharp pains in my side and he took me into surgery.  When I woke up they told me they found the ectopic and it was removed with the surgery and their was no damage.  My lining shed and I had AF type flow 5 days later.  I was put on BCP for one month at my 2 week follow-up and got a cycle 4 weeks later.  It was also at that 4 week appointment that my HCG finally hit 0.  We were given the green light to try again with Clomid this cycle, so we will see in a few days if that worked.
TTC since June 2009 DX: PCOS October 2010
6 medicated cycles, 2 pregnancies, 1 ectopic April 2011, Early Miscarriage August 2011

I'm Kristie, we had been trying to conceive for 3 months with #2  when we got our BFP on 3/4 with an EDD of 11/9! Went to the ER On 3/14 and was told my uterus was empty (HCG 3200) and on 3/18 I was told it was ectopic and received the MTX shot. My HCG levels were going down, on 4/4 they were at 261 so everything seemed to be working, but on 4/7 it ruptured and I had to have emergency surgery to remove the fetus and my left tube.

I got my first AF on 4/22 and on 6/3 I was told that my right tube was clear and we could start trying on our own. I'm currently in the 2ww!

I think I'm doing better with everything. It's still hard because my EDD was 11/9 and DH's birthday is 11/10 and DS is 11/29 so it was nice to have another November birthday and DH referred to it as his birthday present. Also I was due 3 weeks after my BFF so we were excited to go through this together. Everyday it gets better but I think until I get my next BFP it's going to be very hard.

  • Hey ladies!

I'm Jessica. We have only officially been actively TTC since we got married this past April. Our previous two pregnancies were surprises in that we weren't preventing but weren't actively trying either.

I found out I was pregnant with my ectopic on December 2, 2009, just 1 day after my expected AF for the month. That week I just didn't feel right with a lot of back pain and cramping and what felt like bad gas. I woke up a few times in the night and nearly passed out. I attributed it to low blood sugar and/or a panic attack. On December 5, 2009 I was rushed to the hospital because I kept feeling like I was going to pass out and my parents and I didn't feel comfortable with them transporting me.

I found out in the ER that the pregnancy was ectopic and that it was twins. They told me they'd found 2 heartbeats in my right tube and that I was bleeding internally. Thankfully I was stable and rushed into surgery. Along with my right tube and the twins, I lost 4 units of blood internally. Since my vitals were stable, I didn't need any extra blood, thankfully.

I had a follow up with the doctor who did the surgery, not my regular ob/gyn since it was an emergency, about a week later and then with my regular ob/gyn near the end of February. By the time I had my Feb. appointment my HCG was back to 0. I started on bc with my first cycle following surgery, which was about 6 weeks later, and stayed on them until my prescription was up in December 2010, so I'm not sure about ovulation.

At this point, I'm excited to actively TTC and happy that whenever our next pregnancy is, it will be a bit more planned. I am a little apprehensive each month though because I'm still afraid I'll have another ectopic and go through all that mess again. I should be going to my dr. near the end of summer and will be talking to her about what we can do to be proactive about everything instead of needing to be reactive later.

Sorry for the novel! Here's some Cake and Pizza if you made it this far. Looking forward to getting to know all of you!

I also had ectopic twins with both heartbeats. Apparently, that's very rare. Glad you are ok!

  • Hi Ladies! My name is Crystal and DH and I have been TTC baby #1 since July 2009.  We got our first BFP with our honeymoon baby on 9/29/09 and I was rushed to the ER on 10/19/09 because I was having severe pain and kept passing out.  We found out I was bleeding internally in my abdomen and the baby was ectopic in my left fallopian tube which had ruptured.  So I was rushed to the OR for surgery and lost a large portion of my left tube.  We had to TTA for 3 cycles post the surgery and AF showed almost 30 days exactly from the surgery.

Since the ectopic I've had 2 more losses.  The second was a c/p on our wedding anniversary in March 2010 and the second pregnancy was a missed miscarriage.  We made it to 12wks 4 days but our little girl stopped growing at 8wks 4 days and I had to have a D&C.  So After 3 losses, an RPL panel and HSG with the RE we are now on the road to our first IVF cycle and hopefully starting next week!

I didn't know that! Thanks for the info. Glad you're ok too. Did you have any risk factors for an ectopic? Did twins run in the family at all?

No, I didn't have any risk factors. My twins were identical, which doesn't run in families, but I do have fraternal twins in my family.

  • Hi all ~::waves::~  I am Megan for all of those I have not "met".   I have had three losses and two of them were ectopic.

The first was this last December.   The day that we found out about the ectopic, was the day we were in the ER.  That night I had emergency surgery.  The LO was in the center of my left tube.  I was lucky and they were able to save my tube during the surgery.  My levels were not back in the negative for about 6 weeks after our surgery.  Our little one would have been due in August.

We found out that we were pregnant exactly 6 months after the surgery.  They were immediately worried that it was another ectopic because I was having pain, but on my right side this time.   We had 6 wonderful days with LO, but last Tuesday we had to have the Metho shots.  I think I will have guilt for the rest of my life for that.  We got news today that my levels are going down like they should, so I will not have to do another round of shots.  It was bitter sweet to find this out.  On one hand I am happy that this will not be dragged on, but to hear that my levels were dropping broke my heart all over again. We would have had a February baby.

We are TTA until my body gets back on track, but I think it might get extended because the fact that this has happened twice now scares us a lot.  I know that we now have a lot higher risk for it happening a third time.

GL ladies and I am glad that you all are around ~hugs~

  • Hi ladies, my name is Nicki and I have been TTC since 11/10. Got a BRP on 05/15 with EDD of 01/14/12. Went for Ultrasound on 06/07/11 and found out it was ectopic. By the way this was my very 1st pregnancy. I decided on the shot which I received on 06/08/11. Bleeding started that day and has ended today 06/15/11. I go get my HCG levels checked today, so I will keep you guys posted. The bleeding was horrible for about 2 days then tapered off slowly. Im hoping all is well today because I am very ready to try again. I have been feeling pretty good lately and just try to believe in my heart that this next one is the one and it will be successful. My DH and I are so ready to expand our family and patience has never really been my strong point but I will say this site has been really wonderful and I thank all of you for sharing.

I am not sure if this will make sense, but I feel guilty because I wanted to fight harder for LO.  There was part of me that wanted a miracle and I feel like I was the one to make the choice to say goodbye.  I know it was the right choice, but I am just having a hard time with it all.

  • Hey all, thanks for checking in! I am looking forward to getting to know you all. I will make a list of the members, and then hopefully a grads list starting soon (i.e. those who become successfully pregnant Party!!!). Since no one said what day they preferred to check in, I want to make it Saturday. That will be easiest for me to do in the mornings once school starts again, since I can't bump at school.
