Welcome home sign-need ideas

Hey ladies,

  My husband is on his first deployment, and although his return home will not be tomorrow, it is close enough for me to be thinking about what will go on his welcome home sign.  I already made a banner for our house, but now I need to think about what I'm going to be painting on his 2x2 sign that will be on the roadside with the rest of the battalion's signs.  I have no clue what to write.  We have a two-year-old daughter if that helps.  Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. TIA!

    I let my 3-year-old draw pictures on the sign we made for DH.

    Whatever you do, don't write his Rank Last Name...unless you call him that. I saw a lot of wives do that in Germany. I don't get it.

    Even just something simple like "Welcome home Daddy, love ___" and write your daughters name, then you can have her maybe do finger painting/ hand prints on it, or if she likes to color/draw you could have her decorate it.

    I agree with the above - if you're having your child do it, don't have "Welcome Home Rank Last Name" - either put a picture or your kids name or something like that so he knows it's his :)

    Eh, I usually do rank and last name for the roadside sign.  There's no confusion that way as to who it's for (he has a very common first name), plus he says it's easier for him to spot it that way since that's what he's been called day in and day out by most people for the last year.  For the signs at home I do his first name and/or pet names, and now Daddy since the kids will be doing their own.  I would think it kind of odd to do rank and last name for the more personal signs at home, but I don't find it weird for the ones that are hanging out on the road for every passerby and their dog to see.
