School me on double strollers

So I haven't done a ton of research, but it seems like the City Mini Double is a popular choice, so I think we'll probably go with that.  So if you have another suggestion, please feel free to give it.  Otherwise, can you tell me what accessories you have with yours and/or which ones you wish you had?

Thanks!  I am feeling really overwhelmed all of a sudden - I've done absolutely nothing for this baby, and I'm almost to the 3rd trimester.

Re: School me on double strollers

  • I love my City Mini but you need to test them out for yourself.  First go to BRU and test out all the doubles there.  Then go to A Room of Their Own (used to be The Baby's Room) in Kennesaw and test out all of theirs.  You will see a HUGE difference in quality.  Take DH and Caroline too.  She needs to test them out.  The reason I say this is that I was pretty sure I wanted the City Select but Gavin wasn't comfy in it at all and it was way bigger than it looks online- same goes for the Chicco Together.  That thing was massive.  Also, a big plus for me was that it was the only one that folded up flat enough to fit under the cargo shelf in my CRV.  Which brings me to my next point... once you narrow it down, take them out to your car and see how they fit.  The reasons I love my BJCM double are: lightweight, easy fold, flat fold, seats recline all the way, easy steering, comfy height for both me and DH, awesome sunshades.  My only complaint is the basket underneath but I just bought a mommy hook and that's worked great.  The only console I have is the Sunshine Kids parent console- less than $10 on amazon and works great!

  • Oh yeah, I also use a snuzzler for Sophie b/c the straps are still a little loose on her.  Didn't bother with carseat adaptor b/c I have a snap n go.

  • Definately try before you buy! I've gone through a couple and liked them for different reasons.  I've had the Phil & Teds double (front back), and currently the Double Bob.

  • We have the city mini baby jogger and love it, it is not heavy, folds up well and is easy to use. I don't have any accessories actually!

If I had to do it over, I would have gotten the city mini as my primary and maybe the double BOB as my second jogging stroller.

  • I love my City Mini Double.  I don't use it too much because my boys are 4 and 2 1/2 and typically can walk everywhere, but I have used it for Disney, going to the mall, walks, etc.  I can't say enough about it.  The boys have really liked it because they  are sitting side by side.  I guess my biggest gripe is that it doesn't come with a cup holder and it also doesn't fit through the metal detectors at the airport so TSA makes a big deal about that (which really is not a big deal when all is said and done).  So, I definitely recommend the CMD.

  • I just use my single and double BOBs almost exclusively, sometimes my single maclaren.  I have the console and the adapter for the BOBs.  If I am going somewhere the double BOB is too hefty for, P walks.

Same here.  Love our City Mini double.

  • I got the graco quattro one, i liked it...got it with some gift cards and on sale paid about 110.  I used it 3 times...and never again. I wore Darren almost ALL THE TIME (didn't wear Danielle that much). If I didn't wear him, then I kept him in the snap 'n go frame stroller and danielle walked, but she was almost 3 when Darren was born.
  • We got the City Mini Double after testing out several different strollers and love, love, love it. I would just make sure you test out all of the options you're considering in depth to make sure you like it. I took Derek with us to the store so he could sit in it and ride around to make sure he was ok with it. It has the easiest fold up, hands down, than any other double. Other than that it has amazing sunshades, I can steer it one-handed, and it folds up super compact and fits well in our Camry trunk. We didn't bother with the car seat adapter either and just got the summer infant insert and he's done fine.

  • surprisingly I seem to be the only one who loves my P&T, I love that it is inline and that I have the option of it being a single or a double.  it folds down flat too.  but sounds like you and everyone else love the CMD!  but I agree with going to the store, trying them all out, with Caroline and putting it you car.  test drive baby!

I was actually about to FB you and ask which one you had - I remember liking your's when we went to the zoo.  I will just have to go test-drive.

GAH I am stressing big time - I have done nothing to prepare for this poor boy.

  • Don't stress about it too much.  I didn't buy a double stroller until Taylor was around 3 or 4 months.  I just wore him most of the time when he was tiny if I had him and Caroline out somewhere.  I ended up getting the City Mini double and really like it.  I thought I wanted an in line stroller, but Caroline is too tall to be comfortable in one of those.  I like the city mini because it so easy to maneuver and Caroline can jump in and out of it on her own.  I will probably end up buying the tray to go on Taylor's side when he starts eating snacks.  I also got the Sunshine Kids cup holder thingy and it works just fine.  I think I am going to get me one of those clips soon too because the basket underneath is on the small side.
