Hey! Yesterday I had my first infusion day - mainly it was boring.
Day started off with blood draws, then a meeting with the nurse practicioner. Then I ate a snack and checked in for infusion. Had some pre-meds (saline, an ativan, the amazing antinausea drug Aloxi, calcium and magnesium and dexamethasone), then the leucovorin and oxalyplatin (chemo drugs), then a bolus of 5-fluorouracil (5FU). Then they filled the pump with 5FU and sent me home. The pump is kind of like wearing a handbag 24 hours a day, but it's not so bad considering. It comes off tomorrow afternoon - so it's a 46 hour drip.
I'm feeling OK now - the antinausea drug is rumored to be the bombdiggity, and so far I suspect that's true. I can expect to feel crummy probably Wed-Fri or so. Then, I get a week off before starting round #2. I know the chemo side effects are also cumulative, so I'll probably feel worse in the coming months. But hey, I'll take any good day I can have!!
Planning a nice long walk later this evening after work, and maybe tomorrow I'll try a jog. I ran a 10K on Sunday and it was so fun - makes me want to run through as much as I can of this.
Thanks for asking!

I am glad you are feeling OK so far, and hope that the coming months go easy on you. I am impressed by the 10K, and especially by your positive attitude. You're going to kick this thing's butt and I can't wait to celebrate a clean bill of health with you!
After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!
Re: epphd

Sending you tons of positive thoughts E!!!

E - great job on the 10k! Glad to hear the first infusion isn't so bad and hope it stays that way. Hooray for good anti-nausea medication.
Also, Sam is getting cuter by the day. I can'tbelieve how big he is!
