Success after IF

Releasing embies to research today

I didn't think I'd have a hard time with this.  We are 100% DONE having kids. I had my one remaining tube tied, so there's no chance of an oops, if there was even a shot to begin with.  There is no reason to pay another year to store our frozen blasts.

But now that I have these two babies from frosty tots, I have a harder time not picturing them as my babies, KWIM??

I know exactly what you mean. I've been struggling with how to deal with my embies a lot recently - especially as I think about how we go about trying for #2. They are all potential little Wills and that weighs heavily on me.

Yikes, that is no help to you at all. I guess I'm just saying that I totally understand how you're feeling. (((hugs)))

Huge hugs to you.  It's a tough decision to make.

Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
  • I completely understand. DH and I were just talking about this last night. Obviously we JUST had our DS but we couldn't help but think about what we'll do when we decide to start trying for #2. We have 9 frosties and I can't imagine having to make a decision on what to do with the ones we don't end up using. I am all for donating them to science, so I commend you on the decision you made...but I know it weighs heavy. ((HUGS))

  • I totally understand.  We have 5 frozen and are 100% done having kids (I also had a tubal, just to be sure...).  We will be donating to another couple.  It is easy to say, hard to do.  But we know the choice is right for us - it is just actually pulling the trigger.

    Good luck to you!

  • That has to be really hard.  It's the choice we would have made as well, had we any left over, but I know it wouldn't have been easy.  Hugs to you.

  • Thanks, ladies.  Dropped the paperwork off today.  I'm trying to think of them as I would any other embie that didn't implant, which could have been many of my failed cycles.
