Oh the joy of ILs with no boundaries....

Just told MIL that we have to move b/c the landlords need to sell the house.  Her response? "Bummer.  Make sure you find a 3-bedroom so we have a place to stay when we come visit."

Um. Yes, my first priority will be paying extra 100's of $$ a month for a room that will be used for 20 days of the year.

To be fair, a like a 3rd bedroom (we have one now), but seriously--its NOT my priority and as I get ready to go through this process, housing visitors for 10 days t a time is really NOT on my mind.  Gah!

  • We have a 4th bedroom now we use has a spare room for when my ils come in.  I only have one child, but the 3rd bedroom is a playroom.  My mil has asked me what will we do if we have another kid. Ah yeah your in hotel there lady.

  • That is exactly the type of thing my MIL would say. Like her famous comment upon finding out my plan was to breastfeed:

"Well, just make sure you get the baby used to formula too so I know how to feed her when she comes to spend the night at our house."

I'm really sorry you guys have to move. I know how NOT fun it can be. We had to move twice in a year and it's very trying. Good luck finding an awesome place, I know you will, just don't let MIL get you down.

  • I vote for getting a 2 bedroom and telling them it was cheaper for them to stay at a hotel for 20 days a year than you paying the extra rent for a 3rd bedroom.

  • Gah!  I rarely talk to mine on the telephone--only in person when I am forced : )

I love that we have no extra space for visitors (besides my mom : )

Ha! I love this. I would totally say this, too!

  • she's out of touch with what it's like to live in the Bay Area.  No one has extra that they don't use there (unless they have money to waste, I guess).

I think you should only get a 3rd bedroom if THEY pay the extra rent each year since they're the only ones using it. Stick out tongue
