Clicky.. WWYD for nursery paint

The room this baby is going to take over is painted a light yellow.  We are going to find out the sex.  If it is a boy (which I'm guessing it is), what would you do regarding the color of the walls...[Poll]

  • If its a boy or a girl, I would keep it yellow and then work with the bedding to make it more girlish or boyish.  Check out PBK or Land of Nod for inspiration.  :)

  • I chose go for a gender related color now.

    Here's why:

They develop an opinion about their rooms earlier than you might think.  For D it was around 3.

So... if you wait to re-paint until they have an opinion you may not be thrilled with what they're passionate about at the time.

If my kids had their way their rooms would have lots of red in them and a race track painted on the walls.

SOOOO not doing that because 1-2 years later they want transformers all over their rooms.  It's a slippery slope and I don't intend to fully redecorate (with paint) with every new interest they have.

I'd do something understated that can be adjusted with a character comforter or wall clings that are easily changed.  I SWORE I'd never do character stuff in a room but quickly changed my tune when a Lightning McQueen bed set was the big motivator for overnight potty training.  We've had it for less than 2 years and he's already over it.  Thank GOD for the Cars 2 movie coming out this summer because we will hopefully have renewed interest and stretch it a bit longer.  For the younger one we did neutral bedding with just a CARS throw instead of a complete CARS sheet set.

So - one has an underwater themed bedroom (realistic looking fish stenciled on the walls) with a CARS bed and all the decor from his CARS birthday party on his dresser, etc and the other has a safari room (tree in the corner and floor to ceiling giraffe mural) with a CARS bed.

If I was to paint their rooms right now they would REALLY want red.  Lots of red.

I'm glad we're not painting for a while.

Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
