Success after IF

ER trip last night :(

Details in the blog.

Quick overview - I took my eyes off of Kate for literally a second and she managed to fall and smack her cheek on our hard wood floors.  We had to go in for a head CT to check for internal bleeding and to be evaluated to see if a platelet transfusion was needed.

Everything checked out ok, thankfully, but my mom guilt is totally out of control over this.

I feel so, so bad for letting this happen.

Re: ER trip last night :(

  • I totally hear you on the mom guilt, DD managed to fall off a curb and smack the back of her head on it...made the most sickening thunk. All I could think was that I should have moved quicker :( I can only imagine it's about a million times worse with how quickly things can get serious for Kate. Try not to feel guilty, though, if you could have prevented it, you would have. *hugs*

  • Poor thing! I'm so glad that it didn't require any more serious treatment or raise additional concerns. And do NOT blame yourself. These little munchkins are so fast and sneaky! Toodle fell off our coffee table this weekend with literally 6 adults within 4 feet of him, it just can't be prevented (although I understand that with her health issues it's of greater concern). You're doing SUCH an awesome job, mama.

Oh no! Poor little girl! I can only imagine how scary that must have been with her condition, but you are not a bad mom!! At all! Absent wrapping her in bubble wrap, which I wouldn't recommend, it's impossible to prevent them from doing something like that!

(((hugs))) I'm glad it all turned out ok!

  • I am so sorry Kate got hurt.  I know the mommy guilt feeling.  It just sucks!  You are an amazing mom and Kate knows it!  I'm so glad she's ok.

    And she is so beautiful!

  • Poor thing.  I'm so glad there wasn't anything scarier than a shiner to contend with in the end.  You definitely cannot beat yourself up about it, though.  You simply won't survive mothering a toddler if you expect yourself to be 100% there 100% of the time.  Accidents will happen no matter what you do and are not your fault.  Try to be as kind to yourself as you are to your sweet girl.

  • Things like this happen every day to moms everywhere. Although they all feel guilty,I'm sure the extra stress of what Kate is going through makes it that much harder. I'm glad she checked out OK, hang in there.
