What brand of rice milk for tree nut and peanut allergies?

I use the organic Rice Dream for myself and for baking, but we are considering giving it to DS more often.  I emailed in the past and got the generic response so I just called and it is all manufactured in the same facility and on the same equipment as the almond milk.  With the usual, "best practices, blah blah blah" speech.  Help!  DS doesn't test super allergic to almonds, but who wants to find out that way.

  • Just curious, i know some brands have a label "processed in a facility that processes nuts " when it's non-organic.  But when it's organic, it does not have that label.

    I noticed this with our oil we use.  The non-organic was processed in a facility that processes nuts and the organic oil was not.  The lady at the store told me b/c most organic products are processed at a completely different facility.  sometimes a different state.  Like the oil. i checked and for what i remember, they were manufactured in two different locations just by one being organic and one not.

    I can check when i get home b/c i use the organic rice dream milk if it has it listed.   Hopefully that's the case and you can use the organic (even though it's like a $1 more -which totally sucks!)

  • Thanks for your thought!  It got me thinking, so I called back.  UGH.  They have no nut-free facilities AND she was like, well aside from the almond milk, we have 45 other products in the facilities (including organics).  I didn't even ask about other allergens.  She was kind of condescending and went ON and ON about their safety measures.

    she sounds awesome to talk to ;

    it's probably b/c DREAM has almond dream.

    i also have heard of people making their own rice milk but that just sounds like torture.

    how about hemp milk?

  • I was at Mrs. Greens  last night (our local health food store) and checked the labels on both regular rice dream milk and organic and neither have a label "processed on shared equipment"..   Yours does? I'm sort of nervous.. my son is ok with almonds but knowing that it's not labeled is scary.
