Rave for delivering at Greenwich

I'm sure most of you have already heard this . . . but Greenwich was really a wonderful place to give birth.  I had wanted to labor in a hot tub and was disappointed that the hospital did not offer that, but in the end, I felt that it did not matter at all.

Simply put, the nurses were a.ma.zing.  I cannot rave about them enough.  Every one of them - from L&D to the maternity ward to the lactation consultants - were just incredible - warm, knowledgeable, and available whenever we needed anything.  We felt so well-cared, safe, and comfortable during our stay.

The doctor who delivered our baby was terrific (I had met her before, as she is, of course, in my OB-GYN's practice) but she was only there for the last forty-five minutes of the thirty hours of my labor.  (To be fair, we didn't need her before then - I was pushing for two and half hours and it was the nurses who I really needed!)  I would absolutely give birth there again if we're blessed with another little one!

  • Congratulations!!! That is so great to hear!

Just curious, who is your OB? I'm also in Greenwich and thinking of switching doctors . . . my midwives are in the city and I am currently planning on delivering at the birthing center at St. Lukes, but I would love to find a practice that would allow me to give birth 5 minutes from my house :)

  • That's so great to hear.  I'll be delivering there in October and have heard nothing but amazing reviews.

Elle_bee, my drs. Reiss and Migotsky deliver at both Greenwich and Lenox Hill in the city and have offices on UES and Rye, NY......just in case you're looking for drs. who have offices in both areas.

  • Elle_bee, I'm sending you a PM!
  • Congrats! And thanks for sharing, this is great news. Im delivering there in July, and this was a big concern vs having baby at a birth center. I go to Violi's practice in Gwich... any chance you go there too? Im curious about OB reviews too :)

  • Johnsonia, I had a strong desire to deliver in a birthing center as well - but I've had three losses and in the end, DH and I decided that we'd rather be in the hospital where our specialist was based and where my OBGYN group practiced!  The group is not in Greenwich - but I can send you their name and location if you are interested.  God bless you.

That would be great. Im happy with my place so far, but you never know how things unfold and I always like to have referrals!

Sorry for your losses, but so glad to hear that everything has worked out for you this time!

  • johnsonia, you have PM!
  • I was born there myself and can't wait to deliver there...I went on the tour at one of their pregnancy fairs and I started to tear up after realizing how special it would be because I was born there and having my baby there...I know it sounds ridiculous but everything makes me tear up lol!

I should be there around Sept. 23rd, we'll see if this baby wants to be on time like Mommy :)

  • I delivered both of my sons there. My youngest was born on Feb 22nd, 2011 and we had a great experience. The staff was absolutely wonderful!

My Obgyn is Dr. Schecter from Putnam Gynecology. He is incredible and delivered my second son though he took care of me during both of my pregnancies. I pushed for 3 1/2 hours with my first son but had a c-section in the end. The same happened with my second. I was high risk both pregnancies and saw Dr. Bond too, she is phenomenal! She is the Head of Perintology at Greenwich.

    Good luck!
